We take the sociable third of The Orange Box out for a spin to see what it's made of. Was this cel-shaded multiplayer game worth the massive wait, or is it just a load of cartoony drivel? There's only one way to find out and that's to read our comprehensive review!

 

Agreed, although wouldnt say medics that bad uber charge lasts about 6 seconds and out of all my classes ive had a score of 24 with medic without dying which is behind my heavy of 26 I think. He's fun to play and get a bit of team work going on hes class but weak cause people can just aim for you instead of your team mate

 

Shame the FOV doesn't go up to 110 degrees which is what I played in TF

 

Looks awesome can't wait to play it.

 

Awwww I liked the medic Tis an awesome game though, 9/10 is spot on.

 

We must've debated giving it a 10 for about an hour - that's how close it is... but I think 9-9.5 is the right score in the end.

 

A quick blast this morning and the last update still hasn't fixed the sound skipping problem. Perhaps I was more than a little optimistic when I decided that the on-board sound card would be okay.

Other than that though, freakin' awesome! I love the medic. I just like helping people

 

What do you guys reckon about running this on my girlfriend's PC? 2.6GHz P4, 1 gig of Ram, Radeon 9800 Pro...

Ahhhh concs, that'd be pretty awesome. Grenades in general would be awesome. You never know, it might be something they introduce at a later date.

 

Surely it's one third of the Black box, then one fifth of the Orange Box?

 

Easy - it's still the source engine underneath, just set it all to medium.

 

there's no black box any more. you pay the same price regardless, and get coupons to give HL1/Ep1 to friends who don't have it already (i know, how nice, eh)

 

nah... TF2 is like 49% portal another 49% and then the rest is free stuff you get for buying two awesome games in a bundle

 

Black box is still on consoles. But I still standby my word that 1/5 != 1/3

 

TF2 is awesome, though IMO it's a shell of the good ole QuakeWorld version. I'm still enjoying it more than I did TFC, and have been playing it more than ET:QW. I fell in love quickly with TF2 and I'm still working on that feeling for ETQW.

The FOV issue is because this game has been consolizedâ„¢ as I suspect all future FPS games will be. It's not a bad thing, but it means that us older gamers will have to get used to this FOV 75 nonsense. If anything it just makes noobs easier to blindside.

 

Oh -- and bring on 4f4 (4forts) and lavalamp plz!

 

What about HL2 Ep2?

 

Cool. I just wanted to put my mind at ease that the Source engine is still kind to older systems.

 

Tis blasphemous that you forsake the holy Episode Two in your description of the Orange Box!
