How long did it take you to do all those water drops? There are hundreds!

With the project drawing to an end, I decided to leave my mark so that who ever ends up owning this case can have a permanent reminder of how much fun I've had doing it. Its time to sign the insides.

I wanted something big, and bold that wouldn't be seen once the PC is built inside, so the mainbaord tray is where i chose.

This design was made in corel, by writing 'r b customs' with a marker the size of Gibraltar, then scanning it into corel and making the vectorised version of it.

paint it in very softly, as i want the colour to show through

As for the rest of the case thats pretty much done now too. The clear coat will really finish it off but heres the pics of the raw paint for your enjoyment

you keep saying "Don't worry guys, its gonna look great", but everyone dropped jaws by the first picture Damn, you sure got some talent. I was expecting some oldtimer to be doing this, but you've only just turned 20!!! Incredible.
It is a seriously nice modification. Not much of a physical mod, but to hell with it, this is extremely gorgeous.
I am so looking forward to the next demonstration of talent

I don't know the specific name for the technique Jamie, but I believe that'll have been done by first spraying water on the case, then spraying the paint on top of the water droplets immediately afterwards/ before they dry.
When the water droplets dry... you're left with that effect

A few quick questions if I may:

How long has all that taken you?
Where would you buy airbrushing gear from?
How much does that sort of gear cost?

Help would be appericiated as I would love to try but no idea where to start.

First of all thanks for all the very kind comments guys !

I guess i am just concerned about how these projects may look to someone who deosnt understand the process of airbrushing and custom painting. Before they are clear coated, they are rough, flat, dusty, shiney in places dull in others and the colours generaly dont match to what they will when they are clearcoated. - its like a tattoo, when its first done it looks horrid, red, swolen and bumpy, then the colours fade until the new skin comes through then BAM.

And how could i bring my self to modding this beeeeaaauuutiful case! Its shape just begs for paint, and paint alone.

I cant really say how long it has taken me, I work full time - a 9-5 job that i do every day and only paint when i get home from work. - Its like holding down 2 jobs

I get my airbrushes from cammett co, The guy who runs it is a friend of mine, he is a fantastic bloke, and always deliveres Things like compressors, they are one-offs I bought one from my local pneumatic ( sp??) suplier) Its a good one so will last me a long long time.
Paints i get from various local suppliers - theres usualuy a paint supplier withing 15 minutes of where you live... just not many people know where to look


The equipment costs as much as you want it to. I generaly buy the best I can afford, as it pays for its self with the quality of spray it puts onto the surface and the life i get out of it ( unless i trip ont he air hose and smash the needle ! )
costs of this gear? well for a top of the line airbrush your looking at £270, compressors can go anywhere from £60 to 1000's ( i think mine was around the 500 mark ), paints are a big initial investment, as you have to buy in quantities, but they will last a long time. then you have all the other air equipment and safety gear too.

It is an expensive thing to start up but it can be done on the cheap.


I havnt had any updates recently, been very busy with family related things, the case is aroun 98% done and will be sent for clear coat on SUNDAY. thats my deadline
