Hello, I have been looking at this article (http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000012.html) about how to get three screens working. Im not looking for it to pan across all three screens, but separate desktops on each.

The article is exactly what I am looking for but tried what it says and can not get any use from it

How are you connecting this up?
I am sure you require another gfx card to drive the 3rd monitor, as the 2900GT card will only power 2 displays at any time.

    Thanks for the reply.
true, we have tried a PCI Card. My friend wants three different outputs for example DVI HDMI and VGA. Any way possible it does not matter how we end up connecting it. He wants One projector and 2 screens.

Hope this helps a bit more.

Ok then it should just be a matter of installing the xtra PCI card and drivers, making sure to boot the pc with all displays connected.
Windows should detect the screens and give you the option to enable and setup each monitor accordingly.

Least this is simply the case with nvidia cards, not used ati cards for multi mon much, have found that nvidia's drivers have greater support for multiple screens.

Insert the 2 gfx cards into motherboard, connect all the displays you wish to run, make sure driver is installed for both cards.

In windows XP, right click the desktop, select properties to get to the "display properties" page, select the "settings" tab, here you should see multiple monitors numbered for each screen, select a screen and make sure the "extend the desktop onto this monitor" box is checked, click ok.

In windows Vista, right click the desktop, select "personalize" then "display settings", here you should see multiple monitors numbered for each screen, select a screen and make sure the "extend the desktop onto this monitor" box is checked, click ok.

    Thats it.

    Vista Example...

    Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately that would end up spanning the image across all screens, not separate desktops on each :(.
