Hey there Bit-Tech! I've been busy the last couple of weeks on a new case. This is a Brand X knockoff of a Lian Li V1000 of sorts. It is alright for the price :)

My primary PC was in a less than decent case and embarrassing, so I thought it was time to change that. Of course now I have 3 unfinished projects...but this one should fly by fast.

Several tabs later the front metal comes off

The top made ready with a 120mm fan hole and one for the fillport

Instead of fully stripping the panels I sanded the paint with 400 grit and then primered.

After some blue flake paint and gloss clearcoat things are shaping up. I polished it a little further with some McGuiars car glaze

Under the hood is an old school chrome BIX

I added some Lian Li wheels

    The chassis was painted Aluminum

    The Laing D5 pump installed

I made a grill from a fan cover from a Lian Li V1000 and some aluminum standoffs

First run of the liquid system to check for massive leaks. So far so good.

    Waterblocks

After dismantling the cooling system I decided to have some fun

The other hole was for the same purpose, but I changed my mind...Ill have to try and fill it later.

I was very happy when I didnt drill into the gasket, the glue should seal it off too :D

The NB block was made for DFI motherboards specifically, so I had to mod the block to make it fit.

You can see the pump had to move, turned out the 8800GTS is a really, really long card :jawdrop:

    Thanks guys!

@Tile- Yes, you are correct! The case is cheap but not lacking some quality :)

I picked up these LED tipped switches from eBay a while ago

I coulnt have amber LEDs in the middle of a blue ocean, so I swapped them with some bright blues

A peice of scrap aluminum was cut with some carbon fiber film to hold the switches. When I tested them I found the middle one no longer worked :grr:

I cut some 5mm plexi and lit it with 3 5mm blue LEDs to make a nice little seperator

I also found out that the power button no longer worked either, so I had to tear the front apart to fix it. I carved out the original clear backing a blue ring Bulgin switch in it's place. Looks way better anyway.

Thanks widmod! I liked the mesh too, it looks similar to the Mac G5 or Lian Li V series without the cost :D

    Up and running!

    I still need to-

    Finish side panels
Make a grill for the top panel
Make a stealth cover for the CD-ROM

@ SirShaw- I have a DangerDen Maze4 which in the end would not fit on my 8800GTS. Also it appeared that the heatsink on the card is glued on after the screws come out. Given I didn't really plan to do a lot of overclocking and I have ruined cards before with trying to get the glued heatsinks off just wasn't really worth it to me to keep trying.

wow! didnt realize that thing was glued on...might be some really strong thermal tape. Thanks for the heads up, I guess I wont mod mine now with a water block

could always do what this guy did here:

    http://www.overclockers.com/articles1495/

still would give your card that "modded" look ;)

ANYWAYS! great mod :) keep up the good work! :dremel:

I managed to get some more done-

I started with a piece of AC Ryan mesh and cut out a little circle. Using the aluminum run upside down I used a hammer to create a dome shape. I used a towel underneath so the beating wouldnt damage the ring, not sure where it went off to in this picture :eyebrow:

Will look like this about. The ring was looking a little worse for ware though... :(

Mr Dremel and I went to work after sanding with 400-600-800 grit to remove the heavy scratches. All and all it came out very shiny :hip:

The mesh was painted semi-flat black, I thought the contrast would focus the attention on the bling more.

Yikes, looks like I need to invest in some Pledge :worried:

    Happy New Years everyone!
