Oh thank god, I was expecting to see that a newer BETTER card to be released... o_o
That would've buggered me up getting my new PC rig with the newer GT or GTS.

I only wish that they would or could confirm if a new GTX is to be released. Though, if I wait for that i'll just be waiting for the 9800 (for whever it comes out).
Its just a bloody waiting game with these graphics cards. They come out to often. Heh.

 Are these just chips that failed to make the cut for GT status?

Also: I really like ATI's dropping of those stupid GT, XT, ... names and wish Nvidia would do the same.

Really? A 8600GT costs around that nowadays....
This card is probably more expensive. EDIT: If it's really going to be in line with the Radeon HD 3850, then I'm guessing ~$200?

If they are failed chips, maybe they will have unlockable ROPs/Shaders like previous generation cards have had.

Options are always good, but I think they are making things a bit confusing for consumers.

    so it's:
    GTS 320MB < GTS 640MB < GTS 640MB SSC < GS < GT 256MB < GT 512MB < GTS G92 < GTX < Ultra

let's just say that we are lucky they didn't name it after GTS.

i've heard rumours of 8800GX2 or something, saying nVidia is going to do another dual GPU card, is that true? where's 9800GTX?

So why haven't they just revamped the 8800GTX/Ultra with the new G92? although there is a probably more of a market for the lower end cards as not everyone can afford a top o the line GFX card

I'm guessing it'll be more like:

    GS < GT 256MB < GTS 320MB < GTS 640MB < GTS 640MB SSC < GT 512MB < GTS G92 < GTX < Ultra - but I'm wondering where the new 1GB GT will come in.

More of a market? That is their market, high end cards probably amount to 5% of their sales.
