here is a random picture i took. I can't really take my camera outside right now since it's so darn cold atm so i am making due with whats in my apartment.

    Full Size

    Exif Info

    Camera: Canon EOS Rebel XT
    Shutter Speed: 4 Sec Shutter
    Len Aperture: F/5.6
    Focal Length: 55mm
    ISO-Speed: ISO 100

Iam still learning and hope to take better and more creative shots when it's not -24C outside. Also this was shot with the Kit lense and no flash. I used a tripod since the shutter time was 4 seconds.

Oohhh now I see what the picture is all about :) Yeah the orange definitely didn't do the motif justice. Nice job on the levels (and nice photo of course ;) ) I usually don't like how levels affects the image and much rather use selective colors but this one was very well executed.

Hmmm just tried out levels vs. selective color on the image.
Gotta say that levels won in the aspect that I finally was able to see that almost the whole image area is covered by snow. LOL
And it also conserved the orange in the reflections which I wasn't aware of while doing the selective color.

Here are my trials in case you want them:

I was only going for adjusting the white balance but tbh I have no idea how to do that in Photoshop and the levels seemed to work close enough for my purposes. I do almost all of my adjustments within Lightroom, and now that I have some color corrective gels for my flash, it's really just for the odd cloning out some crap or redeye.

Actually, I think mine may have been shot with the kit lens as well. I know it was very shortly after the body coming in.

The kit lens isn't bad at all imo. And really, it just seems to have some sort of bad rep. No idea why, it works fine!
