For lunch I'm having a Cheese and Picalilli sandwich (no butter) a large, red apple and a banana. The banana has a bruise on it. I've already made my decision, but I put the question to you all the same: When you have a banana with a bruise on it, do you eat the bruise? What characteristics are there which push an edible bruise over into an inedible one? ...wait for it... ...DISCUSSION, BEGIN!
Well I hate Banana's with a passion so I wouldn't eat one to begin with. I'll answer the question as if it was another fruit, I like apples... I'll go with apples. I would eat around the bruise because... well... it looks funny.
Depends on how bad it is. If its really mushy and yucky then no, if its just a discolouration then yes. And, I had the best banana ever this morning. Mmm.. Bananas and milk for breakfast!
generally a slight bruise is okay for me, if its black then no, i cant eat that the brused bits are always more squishy, with a weird texture, hate it.
meh i just eat the thing however, i was always taught to eat what's put in front of me... just got to hope who ever is making dinner doesn't have a twisted sense of humour.
Same here ... I'd eat around it ... just prey you don't stray into the bruise at all or you get the hole squidgy nastyness (You can look that up in the dictionary if you want)
I love when Bananas go natually bruised i.e. over ripe, they taste like nothing I've tasted in the UK (they have these in Egypt), if the bruise is not mushy, then I'll eat it.
Oh god, how bad is it when you are eating some fruit that you don't even realise is bruised until.. its too late
There's no question; eat around the bruise. I may be a tad peckish (is that the right word?), but that's just how it is. It's the same with any fruit; if they look suspicious I will stear clear of them. However, over ripe bananas can be baked along with brown sugar for a few minutes and then served with whipped cream, vanilla ice-cream and warm chockolate cake. Yum!
I only liked sliced banana and even then I can't eat them on their own. Being sliced and usually in custard then, bruises are kinda irrelevant.
Most bananas now are tasteless rubbish, the bruises (if they're there because the banana is "over" ripened) actually have taste
This is true, but if they are bruised to the point of blackness my highly-developed "yuck"-sense kicks in.
As long as it hasn't turned to almost liquid mush i'll eat the bruise, otherwise, eat around and be annoyed at getting less banana.
I eat around it. I actually had this amazing idea yesterday for a foam-rubber shell thing that you could put a banana into for added protection, even coming up with the genius name Banana-Armor! ...then I realised you can buy one from Firebox. *fist shake*
