Here are some more pics from today.

I made a template for the back plate out of plywood. The hardest part was all the measuring.

I also made some grill fans for the case fans out of spanish cedar.

Here is a shot of the case with the rice paper behind the BE Maple.

Here is the mount for DVD and the case fan.

    Here is another angle.

Here is the case with the templates in place.

    Hope you enjoy!!!:D

Looking very nice P. I am interested in seeing the progress for this one.

What are your plans for the backplate template?

I was going to use the template with a flush cutting router bit to make the backplate. This way, with the standard laid out, I can make the backplate out of plexi, or wood, or aluminum. I really hate cutting the plexi with the dremel and a spiral cutting bit. It always seems to wander, lines are hard to make straight, this way the template (when I get it right) will do all that for me.

I've already made a backplate similar to yours, three times. I'm unhappy with all three. The problem is that I can't get the card-slot rails thin enough and remain as strong as I'd like. I cut them using a scroll saw and stainless guides as I've mentioned before. I've tried the grain with the slots and against the slots.

I'm getting ready to do something a little more non-conventional. Instead of cutting the backplate from a single board, I am going to build it up from smaller pieces of wood. This may end up in the scrap bin too!

Thanks... I'm glad to know I'm not the only one have trouble with the back plate. Please let me know how it goes.

Well here are a few pics of the Shoji paper that showed up today. I purchased the maple. I figured it would go well with the motif and the Birds Eye Maple.

Does anyone read and understand Japanese? :)

Here is a shot of the double back tape I purchased as well.

I forgot Pfaffen never finished this case. Should we poke at him to see if he's OK?
    *Poke*

I know he's OK, he just posted in another thread.
    Why have you forsaken us?

I must apologize. I have been out of the loop for quite a while. Vogel Haus has become kind of my unicorn. It just does not seem to move forward. I have since started my Cray-1 scale model, and an effort to replace four of the computers in the armoire with wooden cases. Separate pics and threads for those.

Thank you very much for the kind comments. I hope to make 2009 as productive a year as 2007. I only had one mod in 2008.

Here is the current shot of the Cray-1:
