The best game i have ever played is Call of Duty 4.
The strory mode is exciting and the multi-player is phenomanol.
You never get bored of it.

It is meant to be the Best game you have ever played.
    Sorry.

In COD4, I got up to the point where you chase a villain down back alleys/ginnels/snickets and have given up on it for the moment. The ever-spawning enemies are very annoying. It's pretty good up to that point, though.

I don't think I've played my best game yet, although it'd be something like Destruction Derby 2, HL2ep2 or maybe World in Conflict. The former - I could spend hours taking most of the other cars out, then when I was left with one wheel, I'd position myself somewhere where I'd most likely get hit.. great fun. WiC is the sort of game that requires you to sit and play for hours on end. It is very engaging, although the story is a bit hit and miss, nothing like the 'engagedness' of COD4. HL2 ep2 was utterly captivating and was just the right length for an episode. Something like this, but with more longevity - that'd probably be my best game. Maybe HL3?

CoD4 would have been sublime if it weren't for the respawning enemies, on harder difficulties it just made the game infuriating at some points.

In honesty i don't think COD4 is all that good, yes i enjoyed the SP alot, hell, i completed it on both PC and xbox versions, but to say its the best game ever is far fetched.
For those who know me would probably turn around and tell me that the best game to me is C&C Red Alert 2, and they would be right:D To me, the game is perfect, although, i hope that the new C&C Red Alert 3 can take what was awesome about RA2 and double it for RA3, then that would be my best game ever.... or could it?

Zelda Ocarina of Time or Mario 64 for me I'm afraid. Could be the "rose-tinted glasses" effect of nostalgia but then I'm a bit of a Nintendo fanboy on the quiet.

There are loads of games that I consider really really good, but still the GTA games are the only games that I have been able to play and play and play without getting bored... They may not be the best technically or story-wise, but they are by a long way the most played games in my collection.

GTA and Pixel Junk monsters that is. :p

Star control 2 was an awsome game. Would love to see it redone with upto date graphics.

Game i played most through my childhood would have to be escape velocity, dunno if it was the best but could probably account for most of my time.

/off topic... the op must have really pissed off the mods, banned already.

I really loved Fairlight on the Speccy when I was growing up, before I got an 8086!

Today though, the game that takes up most of my 'Gaming Time' is definitely Team Fortress 2.

Probably either Mario 64 or Goldeneye. I haven't played either for a while but I will go back and play them periodically and they still stand the test of time in my eyes. Mario especially is every bit as good now as it was back then, I've not played a better platformer (though I haven't tried Mario Galaxy yet).

As for the game that I got the most enjoyment out of, that would be GTA: Vice City. Having played San Andreas, I can see the flaws in GTA:VC - It's by no means a perfect game. But I just lovedthat game, and I knew it inside out (100%, naturally). GTA:SA was possibly a better game technically but I enjoyed VC more, if that makes sense. Actually that's possibly because I got it in my first year at university and was able to play it for hours on end...
