Can't believe Apple hasn't come up yet - here goes:

    Get a MacBook & a PS360 and you'll be much happier.

+1 thats sort of the set up i have. The MacBook is my GF's but we use if for every thing, i'm converted. got a PS3 a few months back and its great.
Have a PC, but its out of date and full. As much as i enjoy PC gaming (you'll miss wasd/mouse), i like the plug and play aspect of a console.

I'd go down the console route if I were you.
It's come to the point where very few games companies are writing PC-only games. Writing for consoles is so much better for developers on several fronts (no compatibility issues, less piracy etc) that the days of seeing games only on the PC is fast coming to an end.

With that in mind, and the fact that you're effectively paying the equivalent of a couple of consoles every year just to keep your PC up to spec, going down the console route is a no brainer really.

I think I've been convinced, cheers for all of the input :thumb:
That said, I think I had already convinced myself, but its nice to have a sanity check.

Can you not plug a USB keyboard and mouse into the PS3 for FPS? I thought I heard that somewhere anyway.
Either way, I would miss them for FPS gaming, but I've recently played through gears, vegas 1 & 2 and halo 3 on the 360 and didn't have any problems once I got used to it. Sure, its a compromise, but I'm thinking worth it.

Will have to make a NAS purchasing decision first, then I can start selling up!

You wouldn't believe the hassle of sending something valuable abroad in this country, especially when it's £1000+ of stuff.

Currently only Unreal Tourny III. But a keybaord and mouse can still be used for in game chat like MGS4.

I have been playing the betta with the sixaxis and with a wireless keyboard on my lap to use for chat just like with PC games. You dont even need to press a key first, just start typing :) I find it so much better than voice chat as you dont get no kid screaming down your ear or making stupid noices because they got verbal diareha. Also they are too lazy to type which is a plus to me :)

I made the switch from PC to console, I just stopped upgrading my main rig and sold up all my other kit and servers. Then I got a 360 and recently got a PS3. My main rig is not used much anymore but is still there if i fancy a game of BF2 and C&C every now and then but I too find I use my laptop more and just playing console games. Its just so much easiear, get home chuck a disc in and your away, no waiting 10 minutes for windows to load and then the game to load.

My wallet is pleased to as im able to buy alot more games now than when i used to just upgrade my pc every 6 months to play 1 game.

I'm in the same boat as you Tad, I spent a lot of money on my PC a few years ago, but right now, pretty much the only games I play on the PC are either old, or lower budget, because they tend to focus on the gameplay better. While I'm not going to sell my PC (or downgrade it), I don't think I'll bother upgrading it for a good while. I even prefer buying FPSes like CoD4 on the 360 because that's what everyone else has it on now, and I don't really mind the controller that much now I've gotten used to it again.

Pretty much the only new games I have bought for the PC have been RTSes like SoaSE or DoW, and about the only game I can think of that's coming out for the PC that I want on the PC and not a console is Spore (I'll probably buy that on the 360 anyway because I'm an achievement whore).

I game on my pc, my ps3, and my wii, each has it's advantages. These days my pc is more or less media and internet, but i want to keep it if for the few games i do play. What i say is sell your pc, buy a half decent C2D with 2 GB ram and a 8**** series card, and set a budget of about 1500 - 2000 dollars, that way you still got plenty left over for your ps3 and games and whatnot. Now it would seem like a good idea to just get a decent pc, but if you ever wanted to play a game, but can't then all you have is the memories, so just buy a rig, and every 3 - 4 years replace it, instead of upgrading, and always set a budget.

Considering developers are adopting a "console first" priority, I'd say, yes, it is a good idea.
