Starforce is much worse, but at the time no one believed there was a problem the people who said "i'm not installing this" for what ever reason were told to put on there tin hats and move along, much like here.

I believe the game is released on June 6th in the UK. The embargo on Mass Effect PC reviews expired on May 27th.

Stop making crap up, Starforce's issues were well known and documented, many games use securrom without issue, Dirt most recently. Securom has matured, when Starforce came out it was in its infanct and companies droped it, no one is sropping securom, because it works.

    Greetings!
    I do.
    Source of that rumour?
Yeah, I heard about it. If I want to install it a fourth time I would like to install it immediately, not waiting days for an answer.
So, you advice cracking the game?
Until they need to install it a fourth time.
    So have I.
List of games I remember installing more than three times: Shogun Total War, Mongol Invasion, Rome Total War, Barbarian Invasion, Medieval2 Total War, Rollcage, Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm, Homeworld2, Unreal Tournament, Quake III, Max Payne, MechWarrior 3, MechCommander, Starcraft, Medieval Total War, Viking Invasion, Panzer General, Panzer General 2, X-Com: Enemy Unknown, X-COM: Terror from the Deep, Half Life, Half Life 2, Warcraft2, Command and Conquer, Red Faction, MechWarrior4 (and all expansions).
Then, there are some I am not sure how many times I have installed, so wont post here.
Not anymore. Now its more like every 6-9 months.
You are correct, release dates were 28/05 for USA and 06/06 for Europe. I had the date marked in my calendar.

    PS:
Q: Why are BioWare and EA implementing this new authentication process?
A: This system serves to protect our software from piracy.

Dont know what is the more suited smilie:  or :hehe:

You should really learn some history. Starforce problems ARE well documented it wasn't before people started having PROBLEMS. No one dropped Starforce untill it's problems were revealed AND people kicked off about them. You are a terribly naive and slightly overly agressive individual, have you ever considered counselling?

Coming from you that's nearly a compliment

No the problems were not apparent from day one.... thus how people got stuck with it!

also a spell check wouldn't hurt...

Yes, they were, not my problem you are un-informed. Once again, resulting in trying to sucker me into an argument with comments like a 4 year old would make. Learn the difference between typo and spelling moron. You should go back to school.

Yes I remember reading that they were implementing it in order to "protect legitimate customer's software" but as far as I can tell the only way it actually interacts is :

A: If you try and install it more than three times you can't, without EA's explicit aproval.
B: If someone else uses a keygen to get your cd key, you both get banned.

So how exactly is that protecting the customer's software again? sheesh.

And yes I too have a fair back category of "classic" games I re-play every so often, most notably including the X-Com series :D but also system shock 2 and so on and so forth :)

Every post you've made is both agressive and poorly spelt/typed, i think you really need to install a spell check that would underline your typos makes it much easier for others to read, i presume you want others to read your posts?

To say that every one who installed starforce was uniformed is quite true a 30 second search of the web shows the reason for being uniformed, the information was not available to begin with. Who in there right mind would install software which would interfere with orderly running of there computer and potentially damage there optical drive. So i guess that saying every one who installed starforce was uniformed is actually just plain wrong.

I thoroughly recommend you finish The Longest Journey. I haven't tried Dreamfall yet but the first game really was worth playing. And besides, at least you get to play these games for a living. We have to squeeze these huge games into our spare time! :)

Dreamfall is one of the best games I've played since StarCraft. The ending is awesome.

the major problem is that no form of copy protection has ever worked, and never will, there is too many people determined to strip it out it really makes no sence putting it in, bioshock was on torrent trackers, the day of release as are most other games. its a waste of money that devlopers could make better use of and a hassel for people who purchase the game, theres no way of getting around those facts

    Greetings!
Nope. Copy protection is present, DVD is not checked.

Original intention was to have the game authenticate at install, re-authenticate itself every 10 days and limit game installations to three.
EA/Bioware then announced the cancellation of the every 10 days re-authentication. Everyone was so happy about it that forgot about the limited installations (magistral marketing spin).
The game does not check for a DVD.
You will need to disable emulation software for the game to run.

For the ones buying the game, regardless of the DRM implementation, might be a good idea not to be a pioneer.
Lots of threads in Biowares official support forums with "I cant play the game":

    My favourite, so far:

    Greetings!

    Anyone surprised by this?
    EPIC SECUROM FAILURE

Link is to Biowares official forums, so all the content is being moderated by them.
If link is dead, Bioware decided to kill the thread.
