Father-of-three branded a 'pervert' - for photographing his own children in public park

I'm a family man and have helped a local children's museum and theatre build their websites. Interaction with those kids was nil. But, some neighbor told me that he didn't want me talking to his kids while I was over visiting. Another time, he told me he didn't want me to get friendly with his dog.

I hate being made to feel like a criminal when there isn't the remotest chance anything untoward would ever cross my mind.

Needless to say, I don't bother with getting to "befriend" that neighbor because he's a tool in too many other ways for me to deal with.

    :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

I'd then take pictures of their kids on purpose if they called me that, ******s.

That's BS. I'm tired of today's PC-society crap. And I don't mean computers. :p People can be so full of it that it's backed up and coming out their own mouths.

If I'd been in that situation, I'd have simply said: "But those children... are just soooo sexy."

    Or maybe not.

I do find that to be rather stupid. People really are just paranoid these days. If you're drinking a fizzy drink, you're a sugar addicted, gum rotting maniac. If you play video games, you are an antisocial fat retard. If you smoke, you kill people for fun. If you drive a car, you are responsible for the death of someone's pet hamster. And if you have a camera, you are a paedophile.... what is going on with this world...

The public and police already seem to think that photography is illegal, going by all the recent stories of people being hassled for taking pictures in public

The problem is that the number of paedophiles hasn't risen in the last 40 years or so; it's just that people have become more aware of them with the tabloids preaching about it all the time. Yes, paedophilia is bad but it's nowhere near as widespread as people think.

I hope that happens to me when I have kids, just so I can laugh in their face.

That's all it takes tbh, just look them straight in the eye and give a hearty belly-laugh, and carry on.

I think that man may have issues, and it is not about you being the dodgy one.

What does it matter if he was a perv anyway? If I were a kid on that slide, I wouldn't give two shits if he took pictures of me and beat off to them, doesn't effect me at all.

Luring kids into their house to do depraved things to them, that is wrong.

And there always were pedos and we have always known, that's why they tell you not to talk/accept sweets from strangers, it's just parenting skills have plummeted for most people and for some reason they want to wrap their kids up in cotton wool, then put them in an impenetrable fortress. Yeah, I get that people want to protect their children, but they're just going OTT now.

Wouldn't want him to develop a fixation on you though, would you?

It's why porn stars have pseudonyms. Some people can't keep boundaries.

But he doesn't know where I live, he's just some guy in the park who started taking pictures of children, if he does, then it's either because he knows me in some way or because he's already stalking me, and him taking pictures of me would be the least of my worries. A parent telling him to stop taking pictures isn't going to cure his fixation either.

EDIT: That was one long sentence.

No, but fixations start by looking, then taking pictures, then stalking... In any case, that's beside the point. The point is that a perv lusting over your pictures is not something to feel indifferent about.

A parent telling him to stop taking pictures tells him that the parents are vigilant. A paedophile targets those who are vulnerable and neglected.

Having said that, these people went a bit (well, very) hysterical. It was obvious that the guy was there with his own kids. Just having a casual chat with him would have been enough to check this out. Vigilance is good, but paranoia is just a form of crazy.

But isn't taking pictures part of stalking?

I wouldn't say indifferent, but not bothered enough unless it caused/lead to some kind of emotional or physical harm to myself.

The point is, I wouldn't know that he was taking pictures of me for whatever the hell this hypothetical pedo would have done with them. He may develop a fixation for me and try other things, unless he somehow manages to find out where I live or my habits, like the route I walk to school or whatever, he's not going to be able to do anything about his fixation, most likely, I'll never see him again.

Kind of contradicting yourself now. First you posit that taking pictures is part of stalking. Then you say that pictures do not necessarily lead to him finding out where you live, your habits, route you walk to school etc. But isn't that part of stalking too?
