    couldnt. care. less.

just another tld money making scheme nobody in their right mind cares about. we have enough tld's to confuse, use, and abuse as is.

so have they conned the montenegro government out of the tld or do they buy it off them? i hate all these sufix's personally, any type of website looks a bit amateurish to me if it's got like .tv or now .me after it, if its not a well known one its rubbish

Eeerm... Neither. The Montenegrin government is responsible for the sale of the domains, and has appointed a Montenegrin conglomerate to handle the day-to-day registrar duties. The bulk of the money will go to the doMEn to handle running costs and get some tasty profit, and the remainder will go to the government - possibly in the form of a tax.

Well I took a .me.uk domain for my own surname when they came out and it will do for my main email for ever or close!

I feel its just another of those domain extensions which no one 'really' wants. It's like owning a ".boring" domain name and I couldn't care less, I have a .org (www.ParaHelix.org) domain, yes, one that actually means something...organisation which brings me tio the question, when we eventually move to IPv6 there is going to be a MASSIVE shortage of domain names, which possabley means more of these ridiculous extensions if we done want to remember names like www.WeCantGetaShorterDomainNamrBecauseTheyHaveAllBeenTaken.com

ICANN are considering opening up TLDs, so instead of .com, .co.uk, .net &c, you could have .anything .at .all for when they bring IPv6online

I was thinking the same thing.. although the do.me and bugger.me are good suggestions as well.. guess that goes to show how dirty my mind is ;)

Bet you they will not allow it though.

I bet they would, for money, I'm sure its one of those that got many requests and will be auctioned off to make even more money from them.

ICANN may have allowed .me, but popular places like 123reg and Easily aren't selling them.

Interestingly, sod.uk.com is still available, though sod.eu has gone.

okay i dont get it we can have all these odd extensions and yet they dont make a .XXX ??? I mean really they should make a .XXX and make it so that all those types of sites have to register under that and only under that and all existing ones go bye bye and that way it makes parental controls and what not more effective.

It was discussed, but declined. With the announcement that we will be allowed to make them up ourselves however they may decide otherwise.

I'll be getting www.will.iam something of similar cleverness :p
