Cubes are the way forward hahahaa.. thanks for the comment :D

Theres quite a bit left to do on this case and ive installed all the hardware so I hope I don't need to mod the chassis in any way as the removable motherboard tray is useless once I fitted the Tuniq :) Sorry for not posting much info with my posts but I feel that its quite easy to follow with pics alone.

    To Do:

    Mount laptop DVD drive
Elongate fan mounting holes as the fans are about 2mm off from being centre of the blow holes
    mount and solder power button
finish filler work on the front bezel
paint the case Orange, Green, BLue, White or Purple :D

    Cheers man :)

Im really not sure on the paint yet, tempted by Ford Focus ST Orange right now lol but I will leave paint choice until later..

Just order: 2x AC Ryan 80mm fans, 2x AC Ryan 80mm black filters, 1x AC Ryan 15cm single device IDE cable which will be perfect for this build.. much better than using a 2 device 45cm cable!! :D Oh yea, ordered another set of 10cm UV cathodes. Expect some progress during this week :thumb:

Perfect spot for the slim DVD drive, I just need to fabricate a mounting bracket and cut down a 5.25" blank to surround the drive.

Now that the chassis is pretty much complete and ive build my system, its just going to be a case of removing panels for paint etc and screwing them back on.

Nice work ry@n, I'm diggin' the fans. :dremel:

You know, the more I look at it, the more I'm thinking that a nice blue would set this thing off, with maybe a white or black interior. I'm thinking Subaru WRX blue metallic:

nice work man, that subaru blue colour would be really nice, but if its subaru colour, you have to have the gold somewhere, like the case feet. its like the trademark!!

    Thanks for the support :D

Even though my last project case was blue with green and blue lighting I agree that it would suit the case pretty damn well, ive got a few bits and pieces to buy first and once its in primer I will decide on the colour then :thumb:

I still need to mount my power button, its just a case of where to put it?

Which do you think would be better? if it does go centre of the 5.25" bay I would probably put other indicating LEDs and switch around it. This case only has 4 PCI expansion slots- 2 are occupied by the video card and I want to keep the others free, however I have 2 PCI brackets with individual switches to control the CCFLs and another bracket with a single knob in the middle to control my Tuniq. I was thinking about mounting all of this along with the power button or would that look a bit tacky?

I think location 1 looks cleaner. If you put it centered on a 5.25 bay it kinda looks alone and off in the middle of nowhere; it might even still look that way if there's LED's next to it. Either way will look nice, but I'd just lean toward number 1.

Pretty much word for word what my dad said :D I suppose your both right really. Instead of moving the two switches and Tuniq knob to the front of the case I might just mount all three on a single PCI bracket.

:thumb: Spot-on with the PCI bracket idea. The less going on up front the better. Less is more! :D

A tiny update :D been very busy recently.. went to see Hadouken! which were great :p

Sorry for the poor photo quality..

Fitted all of the AC Ryan 80mm fan filters but as they overlapped the edge of fan frames they have to be cut down.

I decided to mount the switch where you all suggested, looks cool but kinda lonely and detached from the rest of the front but im sure I will find a way to address that later! also cut down one of the 5.25" blanks to cover the front of the slim dvd drive. Im also trying to decide if to just cut a slot in the cover for the disc to go through or to also make cuts for the ejection button and activity LED. Opinions? afterall its easy enough to eject the disc by "Right Click > Eject" and the LED is unnecessary.

Going on holiday sunday so expect updates in about two weeks!

    Cheers everyone.

Realy nice i think also that the eject button and the led are not needed.

Keep it up and happy holiday :thumb:

    Im also eagerly awaiting updates!

Its even more flimsy than to begin with but once all the parts are in there they hold it all together ;)

Not had much luck recently! Got back from holiday to have my mATX board die on me and had to RMA it (got replacement yesterday), My Scythe Kama meter was DOE along with a set of A.C. Ryan Cathodes :(

made a hash of this and melted the 2 pin connectors lol but its coming off anyway, want to redo the heatskrink with better stuff and shorten the cable

A crappy blurry pic of all the fans in

Slot loader mounted in place, maybe I should have took a pic of the bracket my dad came up with hehe.. it was a flat piece of alu the shape of the drives footprint riveted to the chassis with tabs folded upwards to clamp the drive in place.

This pic pretty much shows the idea behind the bracket, works a treat!

The smoothing of the front is coming along aswell

More updates next week, LAN Party tonight :D
