Thanks, I am currently on daytona beach, but it is raining... so there may be some more idea updates before long.

Thanks, I like it too :D. I am love stuff that is minimalistic, well everything. I am ordering samples of both LEDs and acrylic to see how many LEDs I will need etc. I am also busy designing a all the circuits in the case so that even if I don't take the DVD box all the fans and one of the LED circuits will work, as this is one less thing to drag to LANs :p

well expect an update next week because I leave Canada tomorrow. I will be going to get the MDF for the sidepanels and ordering the alu. I will also order acrylic samples. I would have done all this today but I had to leave my bank card at home, parents rule dont ask lol.

Cool a mod from the future (Started - 6/14/09) :p
Looking good so far, as for the wood warp you can try getting that portion wet then screwing it down to straighten it out.

    Hello all,

I received my acrylic samples but my camera is broken... so I cant get any pics of them. Due to the white frosted acrylic defusing light so well I need more LEDs than I can put in with my current design. So I am looking at changing the design slightly.

I may be adding an extra layer of aluminium to the foot/ sticky out bit... So it will be alu-acrylic-alu. Instead of the original alu-acrylic. This will allow me to place lots more LEDs in the acrylic. The acrylic in the centre is just there to support the alu but it may not be needed.

    comments very welcome

i remember seeing this tri-box concept in modding forum a few months back, it's good to see you're finally making it.

this is going to look great.

about alu-acrylic-alu, the extra aluminum layer will definitely help direct the light towards the edges and prevent lighting the box, but i'd say do a little experiment and see which way looks better :)

I know that the alu-acrylic will look better but I do not have the time or money to try and implant 3mm LEDs in side 5mm acrylic there is too big a chance that I will mess it up and buying extra aluminium is cheaper then re buying acrylic... :sigh:

    Thanks

Hello all it has been a long time since an update but I had a free afternoon so got modding... I have painted the fingerguards for the HDD and PSU vent, re-cut the backpanel as the I/O tray was the wrong way round, and Tribox has sidepanel!!!!!!!

I will let the pictures talk now :p

The full panel window. The mdf is going to be screwed and filled in. However the acrylic is going to slid right out from the back effectively making the window the sidepanel.

The back panel ready for the jigsaw. I am just checking everything fits and I am happy with the design before I cut...

The other sidepanel. There is a small lip which is only there because I am making the motherboard tray out of acrylic which is yet to arrive...

any way I will get you more pictures tomorrow as the camera I am using does not like my memory stick so I can only take 4 picture at a time...

Questions and comments are always welcome

Awwh got to hate working with wood for that! I tried to make a wooden case once and that was always the issue no. 1. MDF board seems tempting as it doesn't warp, but then again, it looks like crap.

Good luck with the project, interesting design!

NO MDF :p Really, stuff works great, but it isnt wood.

Just buy some wood which isnt warped.

As I have said before it adds character... as for not buying warped wood it is not really an option in Scotland everything warps....
