    Hey dark it looks to me like you have used some kind of plugin for your rendering as thats not the sketchup background.....

    am i right?

    Well, as I struggle away with SketchUp (nightmare with curves, isn't it?) I thought I'd introduce you to my idea - Project GT-R. I did a quick hand drawn sketch to have something to refer to, proportion-wise:

    Yep, she's based on the new Nissan GT-R! Its not particularly beautiful, nor has it heritage and its not particularly expensive (qualities I look for in a dream car) but this awesome product of engineering has quickly become my favourite car. With mind numbing speed, and a design influenced by the PlayStation era of Gran Turismo and Gundam Wing, I wanted my case design to reflect all these attributes of the eponymous vehicle... So we'll have lots of aggressive angles, and style inspired by function. And of course, it'll need to be clever and high tech.

    I'll fill you in a bit more on the design when I have a few SketchUp models to show you...

    So now its a question of:

    Its crazy how similar they both look... I'll stick with the GT-R and change my design - make it more GT-R-like...

    And the GT-R would kick the Evo's ass in a race :rock:

    another progress pic.. file is now above 30mb.. my sempron's struggling! even with 2gb ram :S

    Edit: Overclocked the Sempron to 2.2ghz... quick and easy 22% o/c via a Nvidia untility. running a wee bit faster.. until I make the file like 50mb :(

    Wow dude, thats looking brilliant! >30MB?! thats crazy! Mine's like only 5MB

    EDIT: Correction, 21MB! I didn't realise they got that big on Sketchup...

    Big update coming soon. We have some pretty awesome prizes on the line. More on that later....

    @Bentleya I like the res design. Since this is a 'pooter model and not an actual build, You can do stuff that would be impossible to build. I'd curve the front of the tubes into each other and shape the top grill around it. The side additions would look less 'tacked' on if you blended the bulge into the front panel somehow.


    ...oops. Can we give feedback? I live for threads with a lot of brainstorming.

    This thread, as much as being a competition, is a tribute to the world of PC design, aiming to inspire and raise awareness of this awesome technology. It also promotes free software :p
