How big is your...PSU?

Most people on here have double or triple the power they need, whether they realize it or not. Even my lowly 330 is roughly double what my computer actually uses.

I'm pretty sure I'm only using a little over half of it's power capacity.

But I was really impressed with how quiet the psu was.

 

I'm guessing the current one is Silverstone Decathlon DA700 (700W surprise surprise). I have no idea what's the fan in it and how expensive of an unit it is, but it seems to do its job. The current draw AFAIK is somewhere around 200 Watts.

 

Totally true, but unfortunately manufacturers are keen to play the "size matters" game. With smaller PSUs you often don't get as many connectors (eg, SATA) as on the bigger models. The graphics card people overspecify wattage required based on the customer possibly having a POS PSU - really playing it safe to reduce claims.

A good little 'un has always beaten a big POS.

Corsair HX620 powering my rig without a sweat. Can't really see needing anything bigger that 600-700 w for any system.

 

Antec Quatro Truepower Space cow mad flu disease (Seriously what the hell is with the Antec naming schemes?) 850 watt.

Probably going to change that out at some point, so I can get some quad Xfire on the roll
