143 threads have been updated in the last 24 hours and countless more posts made.

    He has a point.

Bit-Tech does indeed seem to be a lot quieter than the good old days - when I first joined, all you would have to do is refresh the page and hundreds of new posts will have been added, whereas now I can go entire afternoons with fewer replies than I have digits...

:sigh: I suppose people have moved on... but it is still the best forum on the net  I am a member of other forums which can only be described as 'dead' now... At least we have more than 4 members on at any one time...

I think we have the moderators and the staff to thank for keeping this forum running... and CK for his YouTube videos :p

I wonder what happened to people like Relix and Koolvin...

Personally I blame the new format for this. I don't like saying that either because I really like the forum. I enjoyed it more the way it used to be.

I blame the current attitude towards getting outside and getting fit. Far too often now do you see on tv adds telling (nay, DEMANDING) people to get "outside" and to get "fit". These profiteers are ruining the intarnets for everybody! They're lusting towards their own selfish goals of getting everybody away from the internets so they can come in and push even more "fitness" based advertising on us!

We even have one of these people in our midst! RTT. I say we ban him from our forums! Stop these mad-men today before the internet collapses out from underneath us!

You know as well as I do that it's true. We need action. So get out there, and spread the word! Tell everybody you know to put down their fooseballs, throw away their bicycles, toss their racquet's in the bin, and mash their running shoes into the ground. We need people online, and we need them now.

    Don't let the community die.

Perhaps life got in the way? There is more then the internet and bit-tech to life... Go read a good book, or do something productive. I for one am going to be working on my scooter, for prolly the next few hours.

So there you have it CK... everyone is doing something....

    harsh but most certainly true...

i never liked the format change from the start, still dont like it now, usability is through the floor, to achieve what... being able to scroll the forum in one wheel spin... pointless changes for the sake of changing...

I think alot of people if they took a break when the changes were implemented, and then came back, wouldnt have stuck around very long, its just yety another learning curve to get over.

    Thats my theory anyway.

Joe was involved in an unfortunate duct tape accident (I believe Tim was to blame, in part at least). The fora have never been the same since.

In England, when people reach the age of 30 their life crystal (or palm flower) changes to red. This is Lastday and citizens are required to report to a sleep shop where they are euthanized. For years, older members of the Bit community have lived outside of society, becoming "runners", always trying to stay one step ahead of the law, living every day as if it were their last. Unfortunately the Sandmen, government agents sent to dispatch these runners, are becoming more successful in their mission.

There are whispers of a place called Sanctuary, a place where runners can live in peace, but I don't know... It's just a rumour.

The news sucks these days, the writers aren't as good, and theres less reason to come back to the site.
I still like it here as most people are nice - and I'm still a relative newbie.. but I rarely check the homepage anymore, where it used to be my only place for tech-news.

Oh here we go again, lets whip out the Nostalgia and rose tinted glasses :p

You want to change the forums - join the beta and make suggestions!

Our traffic is continually growing and we keep asking for feedback so we must be doing something right :p Thing is you get your news or reviews through RSS or Digg or aggregation sites now, so visiting a ton of regular bookmarks is no longer the "in" thing. Our reader average age is growing - you're all getting more cynical and "seen it all before", so it's to be expected. Forums themselves are getting old hat given that every man and his dog is doing a social networking something these days - we're over communicated.

Forums tend to slow down around the start, middle and end of school, but that is mostly for us young folks....

bit-tech is a hell of alot better off than alot of forums, which is exactly what you deserve.

I have to point out there's sort of a new drive by the mods now to shovel out the turds on the forums - if you see one, don't hesitate to report it. We want a constructive community, not "you're a douche". In fact, anyone that says "douche" gets instant ban.

I've been here for a few years(more if count guest) and I'm happy with the postings. We have some really talented and knowledgeable newer members. Want the old posts - go to the bottom and check the box to show from the beginning. I did that for a couple days and was impressed by the growth in skills from 2002 till today. I too visit many forums and always I come back here. If I ever find Cheapskate(hurricane was not good to him, I hope he is well), we will be back to show you some more new things. It's been summer in the US and the outdoors calls to many of us. Bikes, BBQs, beer!
