There are many varieties of bus in London (including the infamous 'bendy buses'), but this is like the one that I sometimes take to uni:

This is a Piccadilly Line train - there are 11 lines on the Underground, and each uses different trains. I think that the Piccadilly Line trains are among the oldest (IIRC, they date from the mid 70s), though they've been overhauled throughout the years. The newer trains on some of the other lines are much faster and quieter.

    Bendy buses you say?

Yep, those are bendy buses, in York (which is about 1/100th the size of London)

    Still think you've got problems?

Electrostar 377 for Southern Railways, link Chichester with Brighton, London Victoria via Gatwick, London Bridge via Gatwick (early morning only) and in the other Direction, Portsmouth and Southampton:
First Great Western Class 158, links Brighton and i think Cardif, but do run through Chichester.

My local bus, not the right location, or route, but same shape and colour:
And lastly, Coastliner 700 links Brighton and Portsmouth:

You mean your head cut off?!

Pretty much London Buses, Underground and a hefty dose of DLR.

    Strangely interesting thread :)

Two main sorts of busses here:

    The regular type
    [IMG]

and the hybrid guided-track Fastway system
    [IMG]

Unfortunately for me, whilst the fastway bus service is utterly brilliant, it only covers roughly 2/3 of the town and i'm in the bit it doesn't go to :(

I'll try to take a piccy of my bike later, as thats what i use all the time now

This is the only bus around here (besides school buses). And it's not for in our city. Only to go back and forth to Winnipeg, MB (capital of the province)

Having travelled by Greyhound once in my life*, I guess I'm glad I did it before all the crazy knife shenanigans.

Can get 15, mebbe 20 people in yur! Has up to 4 horsepower, generally.

The more high tech alternative which is starting to get fashionable is this tho:

    Lothian Buses:

Pretty decent service tbh. £1.10 for a single anywhere in the city; reasonably reliable/punctual and online bus tracking so you know when a bus is due at your stop

Hmmm, Reading Buses is kinda similar. Brand new buses, bus tracking so you know exactly when one will arrive, but all that comes at a cost. I remember (yeah yeah 'back in the day' [/old man]) when it cost £0.80 flat. Then it went up and up, every time I returned home from uni it appeared to have increased. It's now £1.30.
