Standard power requirements? My Mac Pro + 2 displays takes about 250w at relatively idle, and that's just 8 cores w/ 10GB of RAM (yes, I said 'just'. Suck it, quad core lovers!). This thing could have 64 cores with 512GB of RAM... I don't care what they say in the video, that's NOT going to run off of a normal outlet. It'd probably need its own 20a breaker to be safe. Still, awesome. *crack about "can it run Vista?"*

Nice, but I bet it would still struggle to play Crysis with maxed out settings Having a few of those in an office (once one engineer gets one, they'll all want one) will seriously screw up the aircon, not to mention the power requirements...
i want one, but i reckon i would have to sell my first born just to get near one! In response to that 10year thread, the Cray will be near the norm then!
imagin a top spec model, and getting a hardware related BSOD, you would be inside that case for a month trying to find the fault! swapping out memory, and CPU's with boot tests. any idea on cost of one of these beasts!

I think these things cost about 40000-60000$, At least Microsoft and Cray agreed so that these computers will have special Microsoft operating system just for them
Aww... makes my distributed computing project look small... *cries* But seriously, I don't know about the rest of you, but I could build one of these pretty easily. And also, another thought. If you need that sort of power and you're going to use that big a box, why not mount a small rack under/ next to the desk. That way if you wanted to make it easier on yourself, you could separate the racks to their own HVAC and electrical circuits.
Holy moley, that power cable is propably a 2 inch diameter full 24-carat gold cable just because the computer needs so much power... And that explains it's cost aswell
Do you know how much power this thing would suck down? A $100+ power cord is a pretty damn good idea, especially considering that you probably need to use theirs in order to keep it under warranty. At least in the states, typical power leads are rated to 10a, and at 115v that gets you an absolute maximum of 1150w before you risk melting your cord. I wouldn't take my chances on a $100,000+ system.
looks are deceiving, but for $25,000 to well over $60,000 its a mighty beast. the specs are mad. i would have this rather than a ferrari
Sucks for you, we have up to 13A at 240V giving us over 3KW to play with Whilst I agree on the sentiment of needing a beefy power cable, a normal single phase high-power cable (the ones with a circular blue end) should be fine. I very much doubt you will need a three phase for it.
