Jez is right we do have a pipe/tube tutorial in our forum. FrooP, go to page 73 start at thread #1449. I hope this helps and if you have any questions let us know.

Hey Jez, may I suggest a sort of data base of tutorials and similar info in the forum and apply them to the first page so people can just go through them to find what they need.

    Example:

-SU quick reference card, page 72, thread #1428

    -SU Tube/Pipe Tutorial, page 73, thread #1449

Something like that, so far I have about 10 page locations ready to go. I'll go through the forum and make a list of where all the tutorials and other important info can be found and pass it on to you. To date we have 112 pages with 2240 threads and I know it can be hard to go through the whole forum just to find a tutorial. So if you think this will help let me know and I'll PM you the info.

Fantastic FrooP, that looks great for a fist attempt. I love the mod you have on the GPU and PSU looks great.

TIP: When your done and satisfied with the tube layout you can go back in and erase the line path to reveal a cleaner look on the tubes.

Keep up the great work and post some pics of your finished case mod.

    Warning Linux ahead!

Just to see if it could be done, I've managed to install SketchUp on my Ubuntu Intrepid driven EeePC 701.

What it needed was as follows:-

The latest version of WINE (1.1.4 at time of writing)
Convert all Ruby scripts in SketchUp's directory structure from DOS to Unix text format.
Disable Direct Rendering (DRI) in xorg.conf

    Download THIS.

    Discription: Basic Glass

In SU create/edit a new name for your glass/transparancy so IT can be slected in KT. Let use call it "Window 1", then in KT select Window 1 and then select "Basic Glass" and then select which ever one you want, you may edit (under "Edit Material") the color to suit your needs.

Your model is looking great FrooP, keep it up my friend.:thumb:

@IanW, I have read about that some time ago. Thanks for the info, I know that a few here are running Linux and have never thought it would work. Glad it's working for you.

i heave already downloaded almost all librarys, checked again, it seems like kerky doesnt like my cover, its listed with several other objects and the window cuts arent listed at all:

maybe i choosed the wrong output settings in SU?

i am able to assign custom materials and all, but this seems very strange to me :sigh:

My impression is that it does not see the window cut-outs as a separate feature from the cover.

Looks to me that you have just drawn areas on the cover and coloured them transparent in SU. It don't work like that in real life (if only). In real life you actually have to cut out the areas in the cover, and then create a transparent acrylic sheet underneath it.

Similarly, these programs will try to interpret your drawings as realistic 3D emulations of real life objects, so you have to follow the same rules.

it worked! i applied custom materials and found out that i can "paint" surfaces in su in diferent colors, so the window cut part was black on the backside :sigh: fixed it and it worked, thats the render, gotta improve some stuff though

    It's options -> model options I think.

EDIT: Window -> Model Info -> Units

    Nice!

You do need the latest version of KT though. (1.09 I believe, it's beta but works fine.) You can download it in the bugfix forum, NOT under the main download. Echo has some serious errors with the calculation of glass in the official version.
