stupid living in the sticks. whats even funnier is this is definitely not accurate. I'm on "56kb/s" dial up. i usually connect at 11.5-45.9kb/s
The 11mbs is more likely to be 100bbs

This speed test is broken. I get 12,000 down from Maidenhead, but 50,000 from London.

I'm on 20mbit Virgin Media. I.... hate it.

I would do a speed test but I'm downloading something at the moment. I would talk all about my connection but I think I would bore people. The bottom line is that if you download small amounts of data, then it would be a good one to choose. If you download large amounts of data though, then I highly recommend you pick something else.

    p.s.
Some of you have really nice connections in your homes. I loved the one from Holland, and Vancouver BC. And also KayinBlack's Comcast connection. (That is what my connection SHOULD be like). And obviously a lot of these Uni connections are impressive to look at :)

Is that 50 mbit in both directions and yet a quota of 4GB a week? If so, does that mean that you reach the quota in about half an hour or something, and then can't use the web for entire rest of the week? :eeek: I would be sad at that if that's the case!

Wow I heard they were really good. That's a shame to see that. Is that just an off day? Or is it constantly letting you down?

I've always found speedtest.net to be a bit broken in all fairness as it only accounts for short bursts of download where as I find mine speeds up over a given time, same with upload.

Yep. The quota means that if I use the bandwidth to download more than 4GB of data (excluding files from Microsoft or the school's servers), my ability to access the internet is suspended until my 7 day bandwidth usage drops below 4GB. Bunch of BS, but then again, the policy prevents others from hogging all the bandwidth when I have serious work that needs to get done.

During the day and night, I get between 1-3% of the bandwidth that is available at ~8am in the morning. Seriously!! To go from 45mbs in the morning to 1.3 mbs the rest of the time, and even 0.4mbs sometimes at random is kind of ridiculous.

I really do think that the 45mbs speed is a temporary error - last year by bandwidth at this time was ~5mbs, not that I'm complaining!

Not too bad, considering I only have a 6mbit connection. Actually I get exactly what I pay for, something not all of you can expect. :p

I've got some totally legal torrents running so the upload is slower than usual, normally 1Mbit.

Well thats my home connection. im pritty pleased by it even tho im not happy with the 95gig limit a month on it :(

I am however getting the need for speed now (not the game...i want my tubes untied!!!) so i might have to start playing with cable modems again like i did in the UK.

At home on a 6500/1024 line, so this is about right!

Still at home, but VPNing through uni. Actualy knocks down speeds a bit.. I'll have to test the connection at uni on a weekend/night. The main hub for Norway (NIX) is located somewhere on campus, but I suspect severe capping, and students only get wireless on their own machines...
