Windows Left 4 Dead

Why is it that I can't download the demo on Steam.

I keep pressing the green "Install Demo" button on the Left 4 Dead demo steam page but it does nothing.

WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!11111oneoneone

I was under the impression it could be preloaded.

ou7blaze i had the same problem last night and concluded the servers were being hammered.

 

apparently you can use a server browser by typing 'serverbrowser' in console.

I havent tried this as i set the demo installing this morning and am (impatiently) waiting to get away from work!

 

I thought the demo was free for anyone to play.

So you basically have to have pre-ordered before you get to try the demo? Doesn't make any sense for me...

I urge anyone who likes these kind of games to try Zombie Panic Source - it's a free mod one of the featured ones for download on Steam. If you've got HL2 or any Source game you can play it.

It's one of the games that has got me into Zombie related games/movies, absolutely love it.

The server browser is available. Simply enable developer console by going to Options, then Keyboard/Mouse, then 'Enable Developer Console'.

After that, hit the ~ key to open up the console and type in "openserverbrowser" (no quotes). This opens up the server browser you all know and love. Right now, all games are listed under the Custom tab.

 

It is, but ONLY from 11/11.
if you pre-order, you get to play from 06/11.

I had the same problem as you last night. I'm gonna wait for Tuesday.

 

There is also zombiemaster (source mod) if any one can't wait. Plus you get to play the director which is fun.

 

Oh man. I played the demo for it last night and was giddy with excitement. Even playing the short single player campaign I was left speechless when trying to describe it to my friends. I was left staggered with a wide-eyed grin, shaking hands, and the ability to only utter "eee-eee-eee-awesome". If you haven't played the demo yet, fake sick, go home, and enjoy yourself.

 

Is anyone else having lots of problems with servers? They randomly shut down and stuff, it's becoming highly annoying how you can't just make your own server on the net.

Not to mention the gay "Please enter password" ones.. doesn't make sense, why try to join a server that password locked? Bleh.

I gave up and just Hamachi'ed it with friends, worked fine.

I'm having problems beating it on Expert though, Advanced I managed to do, but Expert.. we just kept dying and dying in the subway area

 

Single player is really great I have to agree, but the multiplayer is full of fail because they didnt implement a proper server selection tool.

It helps a bit. However, making a friends only game still allows nonfriends to join for some reason..

 

wheres the demo? it seems not to be installing when i clck on it? I know its today but its not working?

it's supposed to be available at 7am....... not sure what time is that meant to be, USA? GMT?

 

At worst, that means the demo should be available at I'm guessing 1400 UK time. 2 hours.

 

I might order this if the demo runs ok. Hopefully it will on my computer.

 

I'll have to stop by somewhere that sells pants on the way home.
