I've been reading a bit about the Ted Stevens situation, and came across a worrying possibility. As it stands there is a good chance that Stevens will retain his senate seat, however, due to his being found guilty on seven charges of corruption, he could well be voted off the senate (needs a 2/3 majority) or asked to resign by the RNC. If that happens it becomes the task of his states governor to appoint a new senator. Palin cannot appoint herself, but she could resign as governor and have her deputy, who would then assume the position, appoint her to the senate. Based upon what we know of Palin, what do people think she will do?
In Alaska the governor does not appoint a replacement to fill the seat, it remains vacant until a special election is held. That said, there is a good chance she will run for that seat and about an even chance she will win it. Sarah Palin wants to be president in 2012 and this is how she gets close. I predict that the Palin wing of the republican party will be come dominant in the next 4 years and she will run against Obama in 2012 and get her ass handed to her. By 2016 I think the Rs will get their act together and be ready to mount a real challenge.
Sarah Palin couldn't possible become president, she was even less popular than McCain, and a dumbass to boot
Yeah, that didn't really stop Dubya getting in (twice), I really don't think that's going to be Palin's problem. If Obama can do at least some of what he promised in the election and steer the US safely through the recession, then I think he's got every chance of getting in for a second term. Assuming he hasn't been assassinated by then.
I could see her trying to get the Senate seat and I can see her leading the charge for 2012 president with the religious nutjobs that used to be part of the Republican party (give it a year tops and the Republicans will split in two.)
I'd be downright annoyed, were I an American citizen, if she ran for president. I'd expect her to try and get the senate seat, but **** it right up and just end up sans-job.
And Palin looks hotter than Bush. Trust me, Obama has already saved the world once --just by being elected.
I'm not sure - Even if she got her knockers out - that being hotter than bush would be a vote winner. Hell. Eliza Dushku is hotter than Bush, but she won't be getting elected.
Egads no. She might be attractive within the political sphere (because all of the 70-year-olds offer so much competition in that arena), but you could do a hell of a lot better.
All I'm saying is: after all the bad **** that's been going down lately, zombie apocalypse is all but inevitable. And when zombie apocalypse strikes, you want Dushku and Whedon on your side.
