And I haven't already gone over the limit of what an unsigned int can hold? *gasp*

Examine this thread; the "little green button" is the base unit in a bargraph indicating your value to the community as seen by the Wise Ones. :brrr:
You are not worthy yet.

going on from my last post on other forums where they have the rep system where anyone can give rep it is better as then you get a real feel for who is appreciated by members not just mods..... seems utterly pointless atm

It's abused more than it's done appropriately, trust me.

If you see a good post and want to give it rep - simply shoot a PM to a mod. Takes 2 secs and we'll drop your name in too.

I still feel oppressed. I mean...under this new system, I'm penalised for being unpleasant, hostile, deriding, spiteful and inflammatory, correct?

WHAR IS TEH FREEDOM?! I have rights!

I have to disagree with that on the two forums i use with the rep system it works brilliantly. i say you should either have it for all or not bother at all...

    We disagree sorry.

How big are those forums? What are they about? We have a large, fairly open community and it just won't work that well in our opinion. We may expand the rep system later to people with a certain number of rep-points as they can be trusted, but not just "high posts" because then it'll be a spam fest

We're concentrating on positive rep only at the moment though because it's meant to be for encouragement and reward posters that put in the effort to positively contribute to the community. If you're an asshole without point, then you'll almost certainly get a thick ear from a mod than negative rep.

Bindi.... Where is all your rep points for all these helpful posts?

More serious. If the mods keep a eye out and people pm them if they see someone that deserves some rep, then, It should work well.

Is there any way to just make an easier way of reporting awesome posts? Kind of like a reverse-report-post button?
People just won't do it if they have to find a mod, pm them, and link to a post.

Edit: and it won't be able to be abused, cause mods can review it.

If it's not worth the hassle it's not worth the brownie points. Your choice. :cooldude:

It's hardly my choice what people can and cannot do. I'm just saying, that without an easy system in place, people will forget about it and not use it.

Aaah, this clears up quite a bit...

Does this mean I have to start contributing again? ;) Or is updating old threads sufficient? ;)
