yeh i read fable 2 took up 6.8GB when it was loaded.

all i want is a quieter 360 any decreased load times would be a bonus.

Would people assume that for games that were designed to run from optical drives it would be at too basic of a level for an update to change (ie would an update make them run off the hard drive faster)

    Face meltingly expected.

Quieter drive is all I was after with this update. Which has been delivered. Win-win for me, at least.

I'd say that 10-20 second improvements in the odd level and game load is a substantial improvement that along with the quieter playback is surely justification enough?

I too like to silence my 360 for upwards of 30 pounds.

I'm just looking forward to the silence and not getting disc read errors half way through games.

The new interface looks nicer, and loading from the HDD is quieter. I honestly don't think anyone really had big enough issues about load times to care about it. If it loads faster its just icing on the cake.

Yeah it's not really the load times I was worried about, but little things like Mass Effect not having the odd pause while it loads is still a really good thing IMO.

Odd how Crackdown doesn't support it.

I know a lot of people with a 360 that can't even free up 3GB of their available 20GB (more like 17GB).....I wonder how many people will actually be able to use this feature? Honestly, I think it's great: 1) quieter console 2) faster load times. You can't beat that. That hard part is freeing up the space.

As long as I don't have to hear a harrier jet taking off in the background and I can rest assured that my game disc won't get scratched for the umpteenth time, then I'm happy.

After the 20gb is formated im sure I only had around 14gb to start with anyway.

I have loads of games on mine from the live arcade, inc map packs, GH III tracks etc for example R6V is £1.2gb Halo 3 over 1GB.

Im trying to free up enough space to download GTA SA which aint going to happen. Installing a game on my HD is not going to happen. I dont see the point anyway.

    buy a 120gb for $100

I think its great about it making it not sound like an aircraft taking off but I just wonder about the heat.

Wasnt RROD often caused by overheating? The DVD drive just made noise. It doenst really produce heat. But constantly reading off the HDD will produce alot of heat. Would this not greatly increase the chance of RROD?

the hdd is nowhere near the chips, off in it's own little compartment on the top. shouldn't affect system temps at all.

can't wait, when i play Fable II i gat a constant revving noise from the optical drive, and gets laggy and unresponsive at times. hopefully this will fix that.

    anyone else having this problem?

Well that's good then. Because I know the 360 has a piss poor cooling system so that extra heat would make a big difference. But since it's it its own compartment thing as you say then it shouldn't affect it. That would be horrible for MS if it did though.
