It may have a silly name, but the new James Bond film is certainly proving popular with movie-goers. With Treyarch developing and using the powerful Call of Duty 4 engine to drive it, can the tie-in game be worth a look too, or is this another disappointing cash-in ? We take a look and find out.

"It’s shallower than the puddle of vomit we’d rather drown in than continue playing"

Lol, vomit humour always makes me giggle.

    So, a recommendation then?

I thought that if it was running on the COD4 engine it'd take a new kind of stupid to f it up. Show's I was wrong, it takes an old kind of stupid.

Movie was meh, game is meh, new bond is meh. Bring back a proper Bond and all will be forgiven.

/me goes back to play Goldeneye

I dunno, sounds rather like the Goldeneye game on the N64. But a few years later.

Even so, it's a movie tie-in. That automatically means it has to work about 1000x harder to actually be good.

Why do you even bother reviewing movie tie-ins?

Does the PC version look as bad? I can't recall the PC demo seeming bad enough for me to remember the graphics as crap.

"Film spin-off game sucks." ...for a change.

I'm there have been one or two success over the last 15 years, but you can count them on one hand. I'd love to know how profitable they are in comparison other games. One assumes that if the studios keep pushing this crap that they must still be making money from it.

This review was for the pc version.

Seems to be about as good as Daniel Craig's acting! Sorry but he's not the best actor and I hate the direction the new Bond has been taken.

They had a winning recipe for decades then decide to "realitize" it. Sometimes people want a break from reality!

the graphics for something that uses such a great engine really sucks. why have they released a 2000 game in 2008?

I'm sorry, it should be just criminal to take something like the CoD4 engine and make something that looks like complete butt with it. And we're supposed to trust Treyarch with the odd incarnations of the Call of Duty series? After seeing this I'd relegate them to the casual games industry.

It is quite impressive how bad they have made the CoD4 engine look.
Whilst I didn't expect much of this, I really hope they have done better for CoD5 (which you must be reviewing pretty soon I would think)

Unfortunately, it won't matter if it sucks or not, since EA has turned Call of Duty into the FPS equivalent of Madden. And I hope it does suck, so much in fact that Infinity Ward will retain sole development of the series. Actually, I'd almost rather they start a new IP of their own and get out from under the shadow of EA. They're good enough to go toe-to-toe with Valve if they really put their minds to it.
