Sounds good to me, but I don't really have time or money to be putting towards games right now. Ah well, hope it lasts.

I live in the U.S. and I just checked and Steam is currently selling Bioshock in the U.S. for $19.99. Civ 4 collection is selling for $59.99 though. I'm not sure where the Bioshock price came from.

A question that I have is how do U.K. people play Valve games if Steam is just now arriving?

We either pay US prices or we buy the games instore and attach our activation code to Steam and pair the game that way.

Yeah, everything's listed in dollar, so every purchase involves a trip to a currency converter to check how much it actually costs. This is quite overdue.

I'm looking at the US price as listed on my PC in the UK right now and it says BioShock - $54.99.

Does Deus Ex run flawlessly under Vista and with modern hardware? I loved that game, so paying £5.99 for a version that will run on a modern PC is a no brainer!

steam isnt arriving now, just different pricing for europe and us
before the price was the same in the US and here
this was fine when games were ~$45 on steam, ~£25 in shops and the £ was worth 2$

with the failing pound games on steam were costing ~£15 more than in a shop

clearly valve saw this and realised nobody was gonna use steam at those prices :p

you have to use the proper link, which is why its still beta

Should do, yes. It runs fine under Vista anyway. Sometimes it just needs a minor .ini fix to tweak the graphics though.

Are you using the right link?

How much trouble would this have saved if it had been released a few weeks earlier. Bloody EA and duplicating cd keys for l4d.

Maybe they are telling you guys in the UK that the US pays $54.99 for Bioshock to make you feel like you are getting a deal. I'm here in the US, going to the US site, and it is $19.99. Why they would list our price as 35$+ than what it is I do not know. But I don't think we ever paid $54.99 for Bioshock.

I'm in the UK, but from my work's US-based IP, it says $19.99 for Bioshock.

I'll have a look when I get home later too!

What has ever fascinated me more about steam is that they're are able (and willing) to collect VAT for my home country.
So I transfer x$ + 20% austrian vat to Valve, they somehow hand it over to the british tax authorities who channel it further to my local Finanzamt. ... Or so they are telling us :D

And for those not in UK (but in EU) prices are insane too, but in the bad way, L4D - 50€, COD:WAW - 55€ ( it seems they only changed $ symbol with €...)
