As many of you may know, I drive a Mustang... but as you may guess, it's not my everyday car. What with fuel costs, morons in supermarkets opening their doors into yours, salt on the roads in winter etc, it's just hard to keep a nice car nice.

So, like many other owners of cars that aren't a practical daily driver, I have an alt :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce...

    NIPPY!

    a 2000 Perodua Nippa 850GX

    Oh yeah... you feelin' that?

850cc and 3 cylinders of Daihatsu derived goodness!

60mpg, group 1 insurance, 800 quid, and I don't care where I park it, or what happens to it.

Since owning this car, it has picked up around 8 dents, 2 serious. 4 Scratches, and been hit by other vehicles twice. All damage that would now be on the Mustang had I not had it.

    Three cheers for Nippy!

:hehe: I'd envisaged the beater car to be something like an old 3-series or something. Not a matchbox toy! :p

I'm not sure I really get the idea of having a crap car for during the week. I can understand having a nice car in the garage for real weekend pleasures, but forcing yourself into a gutless, knackered, probably not comfortable crap car for most of your driving life?

I'd end up with 2 cars, one for during the week which, although it wouldn't be as special, would be something nice to drive, and a special toy for the week.

e.g. Alfa 145 Cloverleaf for the week, Lotus Elise S1 for the weekend/track days.

For me if you find the right car it can be spot on I used to drive a £600 polo that never failed me 1.4l 52k miles when i bought it and never missed a beat and still hasnt now my brother owns it. Was comfortable, good for driving about and I hardly spent a penny on it in close to 2 years, apart from regular servicing.

If I was going to own 2 cars in the future I'd deffo have one as my second car with a weekend toy quite possibly a kit car. Would also go cheaper for the right car.

    @Pookeyhead

You know I have been considering getting a weekday car as well. Looking for a newedge gt stag. Problem is that I would mod the other one as well. I might pick up an old crownvic so I dont spend money on it. Those things are bullet proof.

    Had her dyno'd a few weeks back: 542HP @ 583FTLB

It's already pulled 11.4s 1/4 mile... but I know it's capable of hitting the 10s now that I've adjusted the suspension and picked up a set of slicks. I can't wait until spring to give'r a try.

I've already starting cleaning things up in the engine bay not seen in the above pics, the plan is to have it show car ready by the summer. I'll be ordering a full set of Pithon HoseLocks, and sleeving everything with the nylon multifilament seen in my PrometheusCU build.

I've also got a custom license plate for it: D VADER
There's a Vader doll on the dash and a Vader helmet in the rear window staring you down (eventually I'm gong to wire the eyes to the brake lights).

    =)

    Haha, true.

    But I love all g-body equally! :p

Well maybe my own a bit more, but I think anyone that owns a vehicle feels the same towards their own vehicle. lol

That's a lot of modifications, wow. But it is an awesome car. That's for sure. :thumb:

I love that colour. I love Mk. 2 GTi's in general, but that one looks great.
