tbh, I still haven't used GFWL (although I've left my PC on to download the beta for DOW2 while I'm in work).

I still think it would have been better to have integrated Live into MS Messenger, so that you can see which of your friends are playing on 360 or PC (GFWL) without having to have a game running on the PC.

GGAAHH give up Microsoft! Steam has this one covered!

DoW2 is my latest exposure to GfWL, and i can put up with all the game bugs at the moment, but i CANT stand GfWL.
I wish there was some way to get a response from the Devs regarding their decision to use GfWL instead of steam... :(

having used GFW properly for the first time in the dow2 beta its not as bad as i expected
however its just not in the same class as steam

i've mostly been using steam to co-ordinate games, then getting on TS for comms and only actually using GFW to join the same game :\

That about sums it up, yes.

What little experience I've had of GfW(L) has been sufficiently negative to make me dislike the idea entirely. I realise that the XBox Live service had teething troubles at the start and is now rather decent... but once bitten, twice shy. Particularly on a platform which already has diversity and competent competition available - a console is a closed system so there isn't much choice... Live or nothing, sort of thing.

Windows Live was what ruined GTA:IV for me. I've got a disk, I've registerd the game, beaten it, but still can't save my f'ing game when I'm on the school network.

I've never been a big fan of steam, but even I prefer it to frickin GFWL.

Having a common patch downloading interface is a good idea, but with the restrictions they put on games with GFWL and the clunky broken interface even that minimal benefit is cancelled out.

I'm an avid PC gamer, and I've never even experienced GFWL. I think to most people its just a bunch of words written on the game box.

You mean GFW. GFWL is Microsoft's online 'service', and it sucks just about as much as.. all their other services.

By now I'm pretty much convinced that they're shitting up all the A-rate PC games on purpose just to get people to buy their console instead.

GFWL is a console feature not a PC game feature. Real PC gamers don't need all this side crap. There is VOIP, IMs, Steam etc. Keep you speciality to consoles stay out of the PC world please.

I'm starting to think Microsoft hired EA staff members into their ranks.

GTA4's GFWL is so crap, i've decided to cancel DoW2 preroder JUST because it uses GFWL.

i will go as far as say i will NEVER buy any game with GFWL implemented. i cannot share savedgames for Fallout3 or GTA4, it put me right off.

only solution for GTA4 is to get a specificity made xlive wrapper, but it's not available for every game. :(

GFWL is just annoying, it doesnt serve any purpose, increases the amount of crap on your pc and increases the amount of logins.

Simply put, it does nothing to increase the success of games.

It is not necessary, it is bloated, it is pointless.

Stop talking up Steam too much! If Microsoft gets a whiff of it, it'll end up buying VALVe. And we don't really want that, do we...? :)
