When I was studying in the seminary in about 1965 or 66 the nuns were first allowed to wear shorter habits. MY math adviser Sister Michelle was elebuntee hundred years old. When she came into class with shoes and socks showing she said "What did you expect - Wheels?" God love her.

Mother Nature and eBay hate me!

I didn't get the update ready yesterday afternoon but it was NOT my fault. Really.

As I have mentioned before - about a decade ago now I think - the intended internal color(colour) scheme in to be blue predominately. Blue UV H2O fluid, blue LED spotlights, etc. So... I have been prepping and preparing to add some blue to the new alum frame and brackets(Oh, You haven't seen those yet - ignore that reference) and here:







A couple points of explanation and a rant coming:

Used the blue tape to tape off the radiator so I could paint the chrome frame.
This little 40mm x 2 radiator was a significant challenge to mask. Even with 1" (25mm) tape the tape is wider than opening between the chrome sides. I would estimate about 40 or 50 small pieces of tape layered and pushed into position with a wooden skewer and the backside of the Exacto knife.

The paint is Krylon Blue that imitates anodizing pretty well except it needs careful handling or it chips and scratches.

Now for the ranks of the day:

1.) Mother Nature has determined that the sun should shine in Denver and the wind should blow at 50mph with gusts to 65mph for the last 2 days. No painting outside in these conditions., and no I can't use my bathroom/paint booth. This Krylon stuff is NOT to be used without adequate ventilation and a mask.

2.) eBay has determined that my wife's store should THRIVE now. Her auctions and listing are wearing me out. The precious lady knows stuff because in the worst depression our lifetime she is making money hand over fist. I do the pictures and the write ups and answer all the questions.
I'm happy for her.

Pretty much it for today.

One hint to self: Buy 80mm or 120mm radiators in the future.

I told you Mother Nature had it in for me!



This is this morning. A new chameleon cage I'm working on sitting on my deck.
The white is 2" of snow on top of the rain that turned to ice.
Painting will wait a little longer.

Welcome back!

That was a couple days ago - now it's in the 60sF. Wind ate the snow. Chinook winds are what they are called. Supposed to be a Native American word for 'snow eater'. Colorado word for PITA.

Nothing paradoxical about it, just standard Colorado weather.
By noon that day all traces of the snow were gone.

Very typical, the intense UV ( we are a mile high, after all) coupled with the dry climate, burns off most snowfall in just hours.
Maybe two or three times a year we get snowfall that lasts a few days, and once every three or four years we get a real live blizzard.

It's always mentioned that the ski industry loves it when it snows during a nationally televised Broncos game...tourism spikes due to the winter wonderland look that the rest of the nation gets.
We just laugh, knowing that the snow will probably be gone before the game ends and eager skiers will deplane at DIA and see nothing but dusty brown till they get to the high country.

 

Ah, the blizzards! 39" just before a Christmas, 27" day before Easter one year. Snow on Halloween routinely. I've been here since 1980 and we have the capability of some impressive snows even down here at 5600 feet. Wolf Creek pass in the mountains routinely gets 3 to 5 feet at a crack. Ski resorts with base measurements of over 100", people falling off their roofs routinely shoveling.

February is our snowiest month - it better hurry we got squat so far.

My first Video Card Ever !

OK.
I promised all the Bit-Tech community a glimpse at what a MOTM wins. The thread updates, the wrong turns and oopses, the suggestions, advise, and help of the community has lead to this. It is our project although this piece from BT can't be used in H20-C7 (no PCI-E slot and WAY too big.

What follows is not a review of the hardware, just a very pleasant unboxing experience.

I just stumbled on this project log, and I have to say that I love what is happening in that ex-Hells Angel’s head of yours. Water cooling a micro PC, that’s diabolically unorthodox…….. and I LIKE it

and @ Cheapskate: AMAZING blocks. Almost a cool as the one you made for the Mod competition. Now if only my SU skill were good enough

 

No. The BT staff has been alligator deep in the office move and the Dennis acquisition. This prize package just too an inordinately long time to arrive because of Christmas holidays, carrier slowness and things no one could control. I got my video card yesterday. Long ways to Colorado and all uphill.
