    From the original article here
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7912006.stm
Basically, in order to make crocodiles less of a threat to humans, magnets are being attached to their heads to confuse their sense of direction. Right.

But what is more strange is the apparent attachment method. Does this look like gaffa to you too?

That's wrong imo, we are in "their" territory, not the other way round, you can't just stick bloody magnets to it thing, it's animal cruelty.

What you going to do to sharks next? Put a cage over their mouth so they can't bite anyone?

Don't people get it, build your home near crocodiles, expect to get bitten in the ass.

    fail

    FUD/retarded post

it's like blindfolding a person when traveling from point 'a' to 'b', and trappers always tape their mouths shut when relocating them.

    btw that's electrical tape.

When is this thread going to be locked anyway? I thought Bit-Tech didn't allow news postings anymore for some stupid reason.

Only if it posts the news and nothing else. If it posts a discussion then they will allow it. IIRC.

Considering the average American is 80 stone, it's pretty fast for them.

Riisi, read the article - and the thread - again. They aren't letting the crocodiles roam around the neighborhood with magnets permanently taped to their heads. Securing the jaws with anything from electrical tape to rope is common during transport. The magnets have been added during transport, but rest assured everything is removed when the crocodile is relocated.

The BBC article is a re-write from a Reuters article out of Miami. It conveniently left out this important part (emphasis added by me):
In addition, the article clearly points out that the idea was first developed in Mexico, so can we please drop the baseless America-bashing?

But the world lives for baseless America bashing.

Don't see any problem with it really, yeah they are building stuff in croc/alligator territory but you've got to build somewhere. Although people complaining and being surprised they have one in their back yard is a little retarded.

World blames US and the US blames Canada!

Humans all over the world have destroyed habitats so we're all guilty. The could kill the crocs but they just relocate them and break their sense of direction so they don't return to populated areas.

Problem is, you can raise your IQ if you want, but when you're 80 stone, you're pretty much dead. :D
