http://www.dhs.gov/ynews/releases/pr_1238443907751.shtm That's a link from my local news site that did an article about the Conficker Virus. Soo, I just wanted everyone here who uses windows based PCs, to know about this.
Be careful not to stroke it to much or it will convulse, expel a white sticky fluid and become flaccid.
Now if we all just kept to "stroking" we wouldn't have all these viruses running around. But what fun would that be.
*stokes Vista machine* It's not as vulnerable but it needs its love too. Also, In before april fools joke.
Only reason it's not as vulnerable is because it's broken to start with. Here's a nickel, buy a real OS.
Unfortunately, windows costs more than a nickel. So if you're wanting somebody to buy you a real operating system, rather than a kiddies nerf'd operating system, then I'd recommend upping your budget.
Yeah, I know that, but you said you wanted a real operating system, and 90% of open source operating systems do not come from shops, and with the current consumer mentality that if something isn't in a shop it's not real, this means that your options are rather limited. When you consider how much nerf is included in the only "real" competition to microsoft's windows, I think most people would agree that if you're wanting something good and real, you would be left with only one option. Make it wisely, as things like this come down purely to the user, and not the device.
*strokes windows 7 machine* Ironically it spread through my network at work except to me.. with Windows 7.. Win?
I was led to believe by the thread title that we were to discuss Windows and the threat/no threat from this WORM( not a virus). Is this to be an OS bash? Well then how about CP/M or JES 3 or 4? Multics? Minix? gOS? Ubuntu? Red Hat? What? john
ha sucks for you people infected. I patched my computer last night right before 12AM EST and no worries... The Linux boxes didnt get touched (i love linux ) I (dont) feel sorry for the county system admin. He thinks linux and mac is evil and is a total windows fanboy. He's probably gonna regret being one now (whole county was down today)
My Vista was patched anyway it turns out (I tried the download on the Microsoft patch site and it said I already had it) So as long as you've kept up-to-date with Windows Updates (most large networks won't be) you should be fine
