Cheers mate, I figure it's not too bad for a student car. I must say I'm liking the old school saab! I imagine you'll struggle to put more than 220bhp through the front wheels, seem to remember that's about what Saab and Volvo reckoned you could do. Still need to work out exactly how to drive mine, keep sitting on the clutch too long and not dropping it fast enough, it's an odd feeling having a rev counter too!

Krikkit - it's odd actually, it's very very easy to drive slowly. It's only when you think "oops wrong lane" on the motorway and jam your foot down that it gives a warp effect...

Seebul - A combination of being very good at saving money, not having to pay rent, and my dad hating the fact I do a ton of motorway driving in a car that's no more structurally sound than a wet crisp....

Standard is 200bhp/240ft-lbs. Stage 3 is generally considered to be as far as you can go with a stock clutch, so I think I'll be okay. I've also become fairly good at easing it off the line to avoid wheelspin, thereby protecting my gearbox.

My uncle nearly bought an A4, but he decided to get a Jetta instead because he found himself going too fast and not noticing in the Audi

 

TheFragFactory - I'm guessing you're a different Angleus though! My bad.

I've found the A4 pretty good to hold at 70 in 6th, it's just the right foot position.

No special amounts of damage once the wheels are moving - too much power would kill it off at any speed, and setting off slowly with masses of power will ruin a clutch too. Still, doesn't hurt to be calm.

 

Yeah afraid so never mind, you've still got the sweet car to console you, just wait until you compare it to my 'new' ride that Im picking up on Sunday (hint: yours is a lot better)

Oh there will be! Its a 91 Mk2 Astra and was a bargain, and a bit of a do-er upp-er, should be good fun anyway!

A bit off topic, but one of these overtook me today:



The odd thing is this happened on the A52 in Derby, probably the last place you'd expect an american 1970s muscle car. It was amazing. I've seen DB9s and ****heads in Ferraris before, but this was in a whole other world, so much more striking in real life. I'd never known about this car untill today. It looked imaculate, and sounded awesome. I followed it for a while, but then had to turn off into Sainsburys.

With my windows down, I could smell the petrol.

 

Looks like a 1972 by the side 'gills'. Nice cars.
