Thanks for the Info! I was able to get into the shop tonight for only a little bit. I got a little bit more done on the base: I was able to get the center hole drilled and chamfered.
BSPT - British Standard Taper Pipe Thread (tapered threads) [eg: R1/4", R3/8", R1/2", etc] BSPP - British Standard Pipe Parallel Thread (straight threads) [eg: G1/4", G3/8", G1/2", etc] NPT - National American Pipe Taper (tapered threads) NPT is not compatible with G1/4"!
just what I was going to say Langer. Cheap, you should know better. As for where to get em. Try McMaster Carr. The tap is $17. It is part number 8328A22
Well I was asking for a cheaper one. The BSPP taps I found where $35 and I didn't really want to pay THAT much for one. I am going to order one from McMaster today. Thanks for the link! You guys rock!
Hydros Core Res Update Update TIME! Sorry for not updating sooner but here is what I have done so far. I got the O-ring done for the base and scribed the circle for the bolts before parting the base. Also I cleaned up the edges so that way they aren't sharp. Also at the end of last week some of the parts I need to start build my case and cooling system arrived. Magicool Extreme Slim Profile 4X120mm Radiator Danger Den DD-CPX-Pro 12V Pump I am using Plug and Cool Fittings from Aquacomputer. I had to order them from Germany Aquacomputer Cuplex HD I also ordered some switches from mnpctech.com and Bill Owen threw in a fan grill! I am still trying to figure out exactly where I am going to put the fan grill but it will be in my scratch build. Thats it for now. I won't have anything new until next week because I am machining some bushings for a automotive student.
Hydros Core Res Finished! I finally finished the Reservoir! Unfortunately I haven't had a camera but here is the finished product: Back Bottom Front Bottom Thats all the pics I have for now. I hope to be able to shoot it again sometime. I am also starting a NB and SB water block which I will post on this thread but I will start a new one for the actual case.
Hydros Core Reservoir/NBSB Block Hey Guys! I finally have enough stuff to post a decent update! So here is what I've been up to. First, here is my Rhino drawings. This is just to get a good idea of what I am trying to accomplish. I don't have the bolts drawn yet. Here is my little piece of copper plate. 7" x 7" x 0.25" The only problem is I need .200" so the block will fit underneath my graphics cards. Solution: After plainning, I scribed out the drawing onto the copper. If you look closely on the drawing you can see the start of the O-ring being drawn in but we decided to go with a gasket setup instead since space is so limited. After scribing, I broke 2 9/64 end mills I switched to a 3/16 and got the rpm and feeds right. This is all I have done for now. I am going to do as much as possible with the larger end mill then I will switch to a smaller one for the tiny channel areas. After the channels are milled I will go back with some files and sandpaper to clean up the rough areas. I hope to have more soon!
That's a beautiful looking reservoir. Are you going to be running one loop from that Danger Den CPX? I think it may well struggle with all the 180 degree bends of the NB-SB block and CPU/GFX as well.
Update Well I am only going to be running a loop for my CPU and NB/SB. I don't really need liquid for the graphics cards I am using. Also for the mosfets I am going to make a passive heat sink but I will tell you more about that when I get closer to making it. For now here are a couple more photos: I am going in tomorrow for about 7 hours so I will have more then. Thanks for all of the complements.
