@brinkz : there is no trick to polishing aluminum. It takes time. As old new boy said "mind-numbing", very-true. But, I like to numb my mind. My method for polishing aluminum:
loud music, beer and persistence. Don't stop polishing until it's shiny as hell. Just that simple.
The HeatKiller stuff is very cool.
Three years ago it was Aqua-Computer, two years ago EK waterblocks. Today it's watercool's heatkiller blocks.. Sexy stuff...

Finished the cutting on the chrome 5.25" butt-plate today

drilled and tapped it to accept M4 bolts

this way it bolts in the case like any other 5.25" computer component.

I added the MB to the case for mock up

you end up with some nice reflections of the board off the chrome





then the DVD drive mod

the trick is to make sure (measure twice) the bolt holes are under the disc tray

April looks to be a bad month for modding. Super busy at work, (60) hour weeks coming up.
I will do what I can, but there may not be much progress this month..

Thanks Mino. Yes, Indian Larry was (IMHO) one of the best custom bike builders out there. I had the opportunity to meet him about ten years ago in Sturgis. He was just the way he seems on camera, a real "down to earth guy". I spoke to him first at his booth, then hours later in a saloon. He was at a table with his buddies when me and mine walked in. We bought them a round of drinks and they did the same for us.. Back/forth more than a few times.. Very-cool..
@ head : the taxes are filled. I spent money I don't yet have.
@boy4 : thanks, that is why I love chrome-plate, the reflections you get off it. The polished copper is sweet but expensive. Two 12"x12" (.04" thick) sheets $100US..
I need to get a hold of Fred Stinger for information on how he polishes copper. I messed around, but it seems a bit different that working with aluminum.
I also ordered some Copper Shield in the hopes it will keep my copper parts nice and shiny..

You meet IL? WOW!!!!
I saw the price of the copper with my usual supplier, 0.4inches are about 2mm, 12"x12" are about 30*30cm , he asked me about 63 euros for a sheet of the same dimension, about 83USD ... Too much money, and it's NOT polished...
To obtain a good polish with copper I use always the Iosso cream, it's made in USA so probably you don't have trouble to find it
The copper shield will be a good product to have in hand , specially here that near all the decoration outside the houses are in copper, but I can't find it. Now I'll search in depth

 

Yep, but that was 10 years ago. I met or at least saw all those "biker build off" guys before they where what they are today. Thanks for the information Mino.
@ Langer : I agree, I love exile true less is more. Simple clean stuff.
It seems bit-tech reviewed my MB here less than a stellar review.. sorry to say.. BUT the main reason I purchased it was it's appearance. The black/orange is ideal for the project.
