Nice to see this project back on track. Are we by any chance going to see this summer at Assembly09? ;)

Maybe. We are coming with my son, but the robowars is what he wants to see.
Don't know yet how many days we are there, but my intention is that we stay whole 4 days.

The combination of mirrors and polished, rounded plexi is awesome.

The last picture is bad. It looks like the animal is in the case, and a 'part' of him is poking out under the bottom of the frame.:naughty:

    Thanks Cheapskate.

It feels that i'm starting to like modding again. I started to plan watercooled case over 4 years ago and i think that i'll start to build it when i have finished this.

This one feels kind of practising, so i might do some things just for learning.

Ah I see. :) Anyways it would be great to see this piece of art in real life. A metku regular is actually competing in the robowars once again :)

Thats good, my son is kind of Masse fan. :) I also hope to see mod-shop.

Closer look for that power frame what i did yesterday, door is still waiting for water sanding.

I needed a holder for motherboards 4pin-connector, so i decided to recycle that old frame part.

Needed to do some bendings, this was my best tool:

Some boiling water, pliers and finally this.

    Result was like i wanted:

Then i carved linings and did some raw sanding:

After water sanding it looked like this:

Some polishing and placed to keep 4-pin mb-connector nicely out of sight:

Finally its going to be hided with airguides, so its hardly visible at the end.
But what THAT guy is doing in my mod. Someone left the cage door open. :duh:

    Thanks brinkz0r

    Kiitos. :)

I think that it was quite success last year.

Ok. Now it would be time to but some components in the case, but im still waiting for my order.
Meanwhile i wanna do something else than sanding.

This was my all time first real mod:

A webcam, trying to look like an candle. That was my first self-made candle holder too.

(it looked much worse until i sanded and polished it proberly in this morning :) )

So i decided to do that kind of web-cam in this mod too, but smaller, i just have to find small web-cam, and some red acryl too.

Your craftsmanship is top notch, I love your work. That candle webcam looks awesome, really ingenious idea.

Thanks. I liked that candle idea too, but the flame part ended just too big because of the big circuitboard of the webcam what i used.

This time i try to find the smallest web-cam what i can get.
I also ordered some tools Dremel 400-kit, heatgun and sander, it started to feel little annoying that i have to compromise because i had no decent tools to make what i wanted.

    Edit:

I got some spare time, so i water sanded that second door:

I think that this one is better, those "blades" in the side messed up all reflections, and those were the original point in this case.
I will make only some little things in this door, and keep it mainly like that.

But i'm not sure should i keep the web in the door open, or should i use brushed steel behind it? ( like in the picture ) Or should i use polished steel instead?

    Update April 20

I finished the motherboard tray, i used old ugly mb-tray taken from some nameless case and covered it with blue acryl and polished steel.

(I will sleeve those usb-connector cables, as soon my order arrives.)

In this picture you can see frame for the airguides, needs still one part. (again i'll be able to do it when my order arrives.)

I did bubles for the backside of the acryl with glue.(Loctite 401)
I did some drops, let them dry and after that spreaded some glue in to surface and let it dry before finally glued it on the bottom of the case.

I think those bubles look nice, little spooky i would say.

See how that shaped acryl piece and one of those "stripes" keeps the airguide still. It will be also secured with couble screws.

Here is some plan for the final look. (Like i said, cableholder in left side is hardly visible now)

Those blades will cover the screws witch attach the airguide parts together. (Those i made for that first project, found them in my closet one day with those broken fans)

Notice how that frosted piece of airguide goes between plates in front frame, so its secured in three ways.

My intention is to use that pony as an windrider, i will add some acryl stripes under and above it.

Because i also have to wait my webcam order to arrive, i do something else:

First, "windrider" will be polished, then i cover it with piece of 5mm transparent plexy and will shape it to give some 3D-dimensions for the pony.

Then i will do turbine-mod to the fans. After that i hopely have some arrived orders.

ps. sorry for my bad english, i hope you got the point what i tried to explain.

What kind of tools are you using to make all that amazingness? Looks like something a super expensive CNC would do. Your skills are endless it seems!

    Thanks talladega

I have used this kind of pneumatic atlas copco turbine grinders at work.
Small, light weighted and very powerfull.

Used 115mm wide and 1mm thick cutting discs and 80 grit flap discs, different kind of hardmetal depurring files and sanded with that sander to 400 grit, after that i have sanded them by hands to 1200 grit.

Weldings i have made this kind of Kemppi Mastertig
    [IMG]

Bendings i did with typical bending brake.

And of course, typical modders tools, files, jigsaw and drill, i had no decent "dremel", because i throwed most of my tools away last summer. Today i bought one, now i just need to learn how to use it. :) Acid proof steel what i have used is little too hard to cut with "toys", next time i will use aluminium, thats sure.

We make prototypes at work, so i can't take photos there because its highly prohibited and thats shame. :(

Thanks, The boy 4rm oz and Macros_the_Black. :)

    Update April 21.2009

I started making "turbine-mod" for the fans.
I cutted four 8mm thick acryl circles and glued two pieces together.

Regular turbines wouldn't look good in this case, and i have done earlier spikes for the backside of the fans.

So I wanted to make little similar shapes for them like i made for that psu-frame part,
and little something what reminds like spiders back.
I also thought that shapes might give some flashing efects when fans are spinnig.

I did some ghetto lathing with drill and files, then i did some shaping.

    After sanding and polishing.

Hardest part is to make pair for this one.

I am amazed at how you fabricate these pieces. Another beautifully hand crafted piece of art.

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciate it. :)

Actually those parts are going to be just temporal, i'm going to change those fans and re-make this "system":

But i will use transparent fans and acryl instead of steel. I must leave it to last, because i have to get this "done" before Assembly 09 lanparties. Also i wanted to test how shaping will affect to colour when lit up with uv-light.

    E:

I'm been busy, so not much progress.
Final shapes for the hhd-side door, just posing for pic:

    Cutted "windrider" before shaping:
