Each time you torrent something you are copying and replicating content.

Thank God law changes... if it didn't we would still be in the dark ages.

    :hehe:

let me rephrase that: "if the law states that you can own something (the licence for a certain music for the next half century) and the majority of people feel that something should change (the licence should go to 10 years at maximum considering the current socio economic system), then something should change "

And it will, consider the side effect of this trial and the huge growth that the pirate party got.

    Greetings!
Someone from the pirate party acknowledge that a couple years ago.
    Exactly.
Wonder when "our" own BE will start with that.

Therefore the TPB verdict applies to about every kid, teenager and young adult.

    Bloco de Esquerda?

    ...and?!

Seriously, why is this important at all, to anybody? No, I am not directing this towards you hippoz, just anybody that figures that somebody who is neo-nazi has to be evil.

There is one thing I despise more than blind ignorance: bandwagons...

Lets get something straight here: the whole genocide thing was horrible, but that was simply one dude pissed off about his own family and past. What pre-WW2 germany and the nazi party in general stood for were good ideals, and in a perfect world they would have been great, but because of one douche bag wanting to kill an entire race of people, it's tarnished an entire genera of ideals.

All of that is besides the point though, it doesn't state anything whatsoever towards his personal involvement in the pirate bay. What if some member of one of the oldest and most corrupt organizations, say the skull and bones, were to run one of the biggest, most powerful nations in the world?

    Oh, wait, bad example...

Let me try again, using religion this time. If a person whom is a devout, lets say, christian, works at a suicide help line, and saves countless lives without bringing religion into the equation, does that still mean he has ulterior motives? What if he was satanic? Buddhist?

Where you come from doesn't always dictate what you do. "Every woman is equipped with the tools to be a prostitute, but not every woman is one."

As to the copyright thing, and the inane argument between impar and DXR_13KE: a good while ago the RIAA wanted to come out with a per-listen system of content consumption. If person A were to go over to a friends house and listen to some of person B's content, then person A would also have to pay for it. This model has thankfully thus far not been embraced, but one never knows what that terrorist group will do next. (and before you ask, yes, they are terrorists, they're an organized group of people whom insight terror in another group of people)

So in the above example, if person A chooses not to pay for the content he listened to that person B owns, is person A stealing, even though he made no physical copy of the media?

If you answered yes, then guess what, you've stolen countless times in your life! Every kid with his headphones blaring, every house party you've been to, every car going by with music blaring, every CD you've borrowed, means that you've directly stolen out of the pockets of the RIAA and artists, if you believe the RIAA are right in their conquest.

Personal opinion: anybody who thinks like that is a moron, and does not deserve to have their argument paid any attention to.

To sum it all up: making a digital copy is no different than overhearing somebody's music on the bus, with the one exception of having a pause button.

the extreme socialists? nahhh, the Portuguese have their heads to far up their asses (i say this with a serious and sad face) , they only see PS in the mainland and Azores and PSD in Mamadeira (error intended), i am sick of this bloody country being controlled by idiots and crooks.:grr:

Maybe they could do something like Coelho did in our regional parliament (read circus), now that was extreme, stupid and somehow expected.

But that's way off topic, sorry.

What does BE have to do with all this?

PS: impar, a friend shared this with me, i think you may like some of the info, or not:

    latest on this story... http://www.thelocal.se/19028/20090423/

"the judge is a member of several of the same copyright protection organisations as several of the main entertainment industry representatives, Sveriges Radio's P3 news programme reports."

kind of smells of corruption :p

Yep, the TPB's lawyer already made it clear they think the judge's decision was biased and they want him to replaced for a new trial.

This will go on for at least 10 years... fun fun. :)
