Someone mailed me and asked how i polished those acryls. Sorry, for that i forgot to describe it earlier.

I watersanded parts to 1200grit and after that i used this method, which i learned for Cheapskate: http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb255/cheapskate_02/Aug1-1.jpg

Also i have noticed that you can use some wax for polishing after sanding, i have tested teflonwax and it works nicely.
Easy method, but you can't use glue for those waxed surfaces.
Wax works nicely with holes and other hardly reached areas and it also makes engravings little smoother and clearer.
Teflonwax what i have used is mentioned to use in industrial assembling. So i don't know how it works with basic waxes.

I wanted to do some re-shapening for those side blades which i was done earlier.

So i tooked them to my work, this time i broked the rules and tooked camera with me.

So, heres the tools what i have mostly used in this case:


Not so shiny anymore, maybe i have spanked them too much.

I started to make so shaping with corner grinder:



Used depurring tool to shape those holes and corner grinder again:




Some shaping with deburring tool:





After that i continued at home with dremel.





Now those blades are re-shaped, of course i will make some fine shaping during sanding. Tomorrow i'll take them to my work and use that orbital sander to sand them to 400 grit, after that, water sanding and polishing.

That's how i have done all parts in this case. Those blades are coming one in both sides of the case.

Sorry, that my english sucks again.

Shaping and raw sanding done, parts in their intended placements.



Just posing though.



I also started to make a cover for psu:

Used left over piece of acid proof steel.

Marked..



and cutted.



Used corner grinder with 1mm thick cutting disk.



That weird mark in the middle is an "CenterLine", i take all measures in the middle, so i get symmetrical parts.



And here is the part after bending:





Looks stupid now, but don't worry its going to be actually kind of frame, i just needed to do some test fitting and measuring before cutting etc.

Did some cuttings with corner grinder:

Attached one 7mm wide slice with tig:



And here's the tig i and my safety gears which i use also when grinding. Speedglass automatig welding mask and Adflo dust and gas filter.



Welding done, that grey colour is oxidation, caused a little too much heat, allthought that isn't dangerous, but uggly thought.



And rough sanding done, i will sand it better when i have done all weldings:



You can see that its little twisted, thats usual when welding acid proof steel. That is easy to get straightened, but that's the reason why i have used mostly rivets instead of welding.



Thats all for now, allthought that isn't even near to be finished, more with that someday in next week.

And because i'm me, i won't even try to describe what im intending to do. (not sure do i know it either)

You really do have some very nice tools at your disposal. The same gear over here in Australia would cost anywhere from $5,000 - $10,000, depending on the brand you chose.

I think that the cost is here something similar, that welding mask costs near 500€ and those grinders 500-1000€ each, and that removable tig-welder is cheapest welding machine in our company (link is pdf) i'm happy that i don't have to buy them by myself. Allthought i should stop throwing my tools when i'm pissed.

i'm going to do more shaping later, also those bendings are just to keep it straight when welding, i will cut them of later. Its also 10mm too high, i did it intentionally because its easier to cut of than add more.

That link isn't important, just tool stuff and its also finnish so you would't get more than some pictures. Allthought we have nearly every kind of tool what modder would ever need, but those are just too big, cnc-mills with X=23 500mm Y=4000mm Z=1400 W=1200mm, working area isn't very usefull when trying to make small parts.

I also got some parts today for Sindrom .



Lapped E2160 processor and 2 x 1gb 800mhz muskin memories. Not killers, but free and i'm very gratefull for this donation, thank you.

every update you amaze me with your awesome metal working skills.

my recent battle with steel was cutting a 1/4" thick x 2" wide x 12" long bar in half down the center into two 1/4x1x12 pieces. I used a Dremel with EZ-Lock cutting discs. Used 2 discs to cut the whole thing. Work quite well.

 

Sure looks like it too!

Thanks DonT-FeaR. I tried to draw somekind of picture to show what i'm intending to do, but my drawing skills are so bad that i think its just better to leave drawing and show it when its done.

Allthought, im intending to add some curves more and some acryl parts too.

I think everyone has some reason to envy someone, i envy those persons who has lathe what to use or drillpress at home.
