My thoughts exactly ... I'll play Sim City until the cows come home (hell, I even *bought* it for the Atari ST waaaay back) but I just don't get 'The Sims' at all. Sister and girlfriend both love it, but it bores me absolutely senseless.

Must be a chick thing :)

I built a computer for my wife and all she did in the beginning was play Sims 2 and internet surf. She kept at me about trying it, soooo after finding out I could alter the game and recreate its items and character actions I said ok. (It takes up more than 20Gs)

After turning my character into a Metro/Rock pimp and having a hooker business in my house making over 12,000 dollars a night by holding house party's........ I got bored. But it was fun while it lasted and I respect the game.

I've enjoyed playing Sims, but mostly as a builder. Make a nice 3 story house with lavish first and second story with a 3rd story with bare minimums. Send all residents to 3rd floor and promply delete the stairs =D

    How evil! :thumb:

My fave was a bit more tame: build a big house with an empty ground floor, then delete all walls on the ground floor leaving only the stairs :dremel:

Back when Sims 1 was released I gave it 10 minutes and I built a maze in the garden with fences. Food right in the middle. No fridge or anything to eat in the house, no phone to get a delivery... fun, fun, fun.

Oh, and of course the classic: Build a swimming pool, let the Sim get into it, delete ladder. :thumb:

    @ Natima, I never said I don't like it. ;)
Problem is when two people like the same game that only one computer in our home can run... no... that's not a problem... it's a disaster!

    I'm shocked, nay stunned..

Where's Impar with the news of an obtrusive copy protection scheme?

    :)

I'm surprised a pirate copy is already out - 2 and a half weeks before release date for a working copy is early. I'll be buying a copy for my sis's birthday, and can see this being no1 for aaages, as much as I think most people on here will disapprove.

It's not really a surprise for a game of such importance*

*nb. not for the usual gamer lot in general. like the wii, the sims has a different audience generally**

**and this is also going to have an unusual effect on piracy IMHO, most people who can pirate it probably aren't going to be very interested in the game, and vice versa... So this'll be interesting to watch...

I'm keeping quiet, but i'm not sure my mother won't ask me to download it if she finds out (though she's buying it regardless, so not a huge issue)

Now only if they were to realease a GOOD successor to SimCity 3000, SC4 was good but it wasn't as great of a game as SC3k, and Rush Hour was a joke, mini-games in SimCity??? Oh why have you sold your soul Maxis?

    Greetings!
    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=166056

As for the game itself, never could really understood the success of such a game. Was a bit surprised seeing a review of the game in BitTech.

I think women enjoy playing this game because they can make their "perfect" lives... I would be worried if my gf/wife were constantly checking out of real life to live in their fake one ;)
