hi guys, i currently have some problems with w7 RC. everything is stable, runs better than vista, but for some reason it keeps downloading, killing my bandwidth. it starts always after about 10 after the logon. i've closed every other service and checked if the updates were the culprit, but no. i don't have clue what it needs to download. it;s been doing this for the last 3 weeks. any ideas would be much appreciated. thanx:confused:

I don't have win7, but maybe it's uploading stuff to microsoft.

By installing the rc, you have now become one of microsofts 'testers' so they can see how the os is performing.

Nothing in this world is really 'free'.

    Lol no.

How do you know it's downloading? Are you using some application?

Could it be some updater of a program, such as Adobe?

i' was checking the download speed constantly, and all the other services were closed (adobe and everything) i had just the antivirus, but i blocked it's updates. the pc doesn't upload it downloads, but i don't have a clue what. either binary pron or some pleasing technical specs of some new ram he'd like to have, no clue about it.

press start-> write resource monitor and open the program.

Look under the "Overview" tap and look at the "Network" section. Is there anything there that run lots of traffic? in which case, what?

I checked Windows 7 on my dual boot system tonight, for a couple of hours I had Start Task Manager/Networking running, apart from the odd small spike nothing. Have you done a complete malware check on the system.

where did you get your copy from? did you download it yourself from the MS site or is a torrent version.

if its not from the official site chance are its one of the trojan infected versions floating around on the p2p sites.

so, i've downloaded it from ms. i use bit defende to check the bandwidth, it has it built in, and i've checked as well the ressource monitor, it shows 2Mbs during constant spikes, with every piece of software active( or background) turned off, except the antivirus. i had the same issues sometimes with vista home premium, but not to this degree. anyway, thanx for the help, much appreciated

Maybe its bit defender, try un-installing it and using AVG or something else for a few days, it sounds like it could be AV updates, if you use to get the same kind of problems with Vista
