It would be nicer if they let you pick which version you want to install with the RC, If I only was using Home Premium, I wouldn't want to buy Ultimate.

I even made fun of people who were buying Vista Ultimate. >_>

    unlike vista, it's pretty much

pro = all features in home prem + features
ultimate = all features in pro + features

so you decide how much OS you want to pay for instead of being forced to choose between feature set A vs feature set B

So what about the 32- and 64-bit versions?

What about them? You'll be able to choose between them if you pre-order etc.

    64-bit is better though.

I was just wondering the price difference. If you could pick up the 64-bit for the same price that'd be great.

I tried installing the RC but I got a lovely BSOD. The stop code has something to do with 7 not liking PCI-express x16 GPUs plugged in. Having a lack of PCI ones and a Striker II NSE mobo meant that I just couldn't be bothered and that I'd stick with XP a little while longer until the release. But at £49.99, I'm sooo down on that. I hope its not an OEM copy though.

All the copies of Windows 7 (apart from Starter which is for Netbooks) are listed on the MS site as

Not sure if there are separate 32 and 64 bit versions, might be you get to choose when you install.

I'm wondering if I could upgrade to Windows 7 without having an OS installed already, like some people did with Windows Vista.

    £50 for a full copy?

Maybe I'll bite and put off getting new hardware for a bit :sigh:

These prices are not for "update" copies - they are full retail copies, so you should be able to install from scratch.

The article says there are not going to be any update copies of Windows 7 for Europe.

Yeah these versions are the -E versions without IE8 or media player I think, due to all the antitrust stuff in the EU.

They're selling them cheap to get ppl to buy them fast to shut the antitrust commission up.

I'm happy to take the chance, as I'm still using XP but would like a freshen up!

Do you have a link to a site in the UK where you can pre-order? I've not seen any yet. :thumb:
