Alright, i'm almost finished my build. Still waiting for the graphics card to ship, but in the meanwhile, i acquired some money so yeah new monitor time.....no more TN panel crap. Guys recommend one please....budget is 300-400 US. Monitor size >22" I was looking at Benq fp241W, but Amazon doesn't have it unfortunately...any other stellar options? come on bit tech guys, you do great monitor reviews, recommend me something bindibadgi
I have my eyes on the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA, it's a ISP panel, but it's 1680 x 1050, I am waiting/looking for the larger resolution model. I don't know who makes the panel in reality, yet. But review are looking good for the price.
Your screen is a TN panel, which doesn't fit the needs of anyone who enjoys colors let alone some level of color accuracy, like me and hotnikkelz.
- No PVA/IPS panels below $700-800 over 22" with that kind of resolution. - They are 16:10 aspect ratio usually, hence 1920 x 1200 not 1920 x 1080. While they are capable of outputting a 1080p signal -- it will be scaled to fit the 16:10 aspect ratio or simply cut. - If you don't want "TN panel crap" then be prepared to pay a premium. - Benq FP241W/WZ has been discontinued for ~1+ years now. - You're stuck with TN+Film panels unless you double your budget. Dell 2408WFP http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSha...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246946892&sr=1-2 $~750-800 is probably the cheapest S-PVA you can get. Uses a Samsung S-PVA panel but I'm not sure if its a true 8-bit panel. High-end S-PVA/IPS panels use 12-bit but you're going easily over $1200-1500.
I have the Benq G2220HD which has been quite a good choice to me. Ok, it's a TN panel, but does a great job with gaming and watching videos. As u have quite a higher budget, you might check out the G2411HD from Benq. I would have bought that one but my budget was limited though...anyway, is Full HD 16:9, 1920x1080, HDMI and good design...had a wonderful time so far playing games and watching blu-ray...
lg i think have recently released some 'budget' orientated ips 1920x1200 lcd displays. it was on tftcentral a while ago - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/17.htm#lg_ips_screens
try this.. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7438 Dell 2209W got one of these myself. cracking monitor only thing that lets it done is no HDMi socket
Whoa still that expensive? Well in that case, i'll up it by 100~200. Seems like I still have to get a TN *sigh* What's the best TN right now? Or maybe i can cut back on the size to 1680x1050 so i can get the other panel. What do you all recommend in that case? I want to be able to use my ps3 on it without affecting quality. The movie issue is not a big deal for me
It's up to you. I recommend a ISP panel which that fits your budget and provide both worlds gaming/video and work. The resolution is less... but it fits your budget. Else then that, you must go down to a TN panel. If you wonder. TN panel did not improve over the years, it's the same old junk as before. Samsung is plagues with backlit bleeding screen so I guess it's a no no for you. If you are going to TN panel, then make SURE that the screen is not glossy now the frame, unless you enjoy being distracted, preventing you to work, and cause you headaches and eye strain after several hours of use. If you are willing to wait to increase your budget much higher, you can get the best of the best (but not for gaming/action movie video, unless they just recently released a new model or will) , you have EIZO. EIZO a Japanese company targeting only professionals where color accuracy, view angle, no backlit bleeding, uniform light dispersion is critical. They are also in the 1-2k$ range.
Ok, no TN crap! I'm going with the IPS/PVA or whatever it is. I'll cut back to 1680x1050 res. What options do I have in the range 300-500? What's really good? Also does that res, affect my quality for the ps3? or is it marginal? I can live with marginal decreases.
Check out this article on selecting the proper screen technology, so that you know the downside of each panel technology properly and know what to expect: http://www.anandtech.com/displays/showdoc.aspx?i=3584 Yes, it will affect the quality of the PS3 as you lower the screen resolution. Here are some suggestions: 22inch 1680 x 1050 8-bit ISP panel (VGA/DVI)- Dell UltraSharp 2209WA 22inch 1680 x 1050 8-bit PVA panel (VGA/DVI/DisplayPort) - HP LP2275W 22inch 1680 x 1050 10-bit LUT PVA panel (VGA/DVI/S-Video) - NEC MultiSync P221W 24inch 1900 x 1200 8-bit S-PVA (over 1080p.. so I don't know how it will look.. maybe some black line left and right) (VGA/Composite/Component/2x DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort/S-Video) - DELL ULTRASHARP 2408WFP I hope this help in the quest in finding a great screen that fit the best your needs. Now, remember that Dell, HP monitors, are real monitors from Samsung and other monitor manufacture, pack in the OEM design and logo, so that means cheaper for you... but it's the same great panel as if you found the actual manufacture of the monitor panel.
what about this 23" LCD i havent been able to tell what type of pannel it is yet i found it on newegg.com for 10$ more then on tigerdriect.com Acer X233H 23"
okay so if you go to newegg.com and look at HDTVs specifically the LCDs in the 22" range @ 1080p and you choose either one it says TFT panel so what you trying to get people to see is that there isnt a differance between a HDTV that you would put in your living room expecting to get the OOOH and AAAAHs of BluRay and a 23" LCD monitor @ 1080p res correct? here are the links ViewSonic 22" 1080p and Acer X233H 23" 1080p
I don't think you understand LCD specs. All LCD's monitor TV and computers (and other devices as is acts like a screen (ie: not like a calculator or watch)), is TFT. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_film_transistor_liquid_crystal_display
