DereX : Where did you get the corner connectors you used for building the frame, and what would you call them?
I tried to explain them to an employee at Lowe's and they just looked at me strange.
    Thanks

I think they're called 'Cube Loc' 25mm square plastic joiners, I cant find a web address but most aluminium retailers may stock them. I have them at my local hardware and also can get them from the sheet metal place up the road.

    DonT-FeaR : wow this is fantastic !

    ty :)

    Quick note too.

As I live far from anything industrial and I don't drive, a lot of stuff has been getting in the way of me getting to the powder coaters, but my sister the wonderful person she is, is driving me up on Thursday so, I hope to have something to show soon.

    Final colors are as follows...

Main body (Primary Color) = Gloss White
Dress Up Pieces (Secondary Color) = Matt or Satin Black
Chassis (Third Color) = Gloss Red

I know I've painted the chassis red already but I'm already getting everything else powder coated so why not the frame too.

This week will be sanding and flame polishing all the acrylic pieces.

There's a lot of hard work there mate, I hope those panels don't buckle in the oven.
    Have you checked this out?

White, candy red and black will look amazing! You must have the patience of a saint to do all that filing and nibbling. You've got some serious skill and the finished result for this will be jaw-dropping :jawdrop:

I rang the people and they said to bring it in, she said theres a 50/50 chance it will or wont depending on the panels.

@ Blatent0ne, tyvm :) and I hope so, When I pictured it in my head it looked appealing.

    HARDWARE UPDATE.

I'll be using old parts on this project, but they aren't so old that they are dinosaur parts, merely a few years old but good enough to do the job. I also spent a fortune on them so getting rid of them wasn't going to happen, this also used to be my old pc before I upgraded and since then has been lying in another case gathering dust.

This is the home theatre unit I'll be running, the DVD Rom drive will run as an external to the case.

This is how it should look with the aluminium frame and acrylic around it, although I will be trying my best to have all the aluminium pieces that are over the acrylic pieces color match the home theater unit, so it all matches and also ties in with everything else.

    More to follow soon.

thanks for the comments and the vote of confidence :)

Finally I have some good news, went the powder coaters this morning with all my panels, and they will be able to powder coat them.

Final colors as follows, Tarroca Black (cross between flat black and matt black also the closest I could match to the home theater units color) and Gloss White.
They will be ready for pick up on Tuesday but I wont be getting them till the weekend.
All up its going to cost $140.00 AUD which is great news compared to the emailed quote of $300.

I'll have something put together for the weekend.

I had a 7800GTX, was the absolute shizz when it came out :D

The media module fits flawlessly! When the gadget it's in is painted black it will look just incredible (like it doesn't already! :p)

    Sneak Peek.

All the powder coating is completed and I would have begun putting the case together except I'm still waiting on an order of M3 and M4 socket screws.

I took some pics of the top panel...

The Black I had chosen, they dont make anymore so I went with matt black instead, hopefully the contrast between plastic fake brushed black alu on the Home Theater unit and the accent pieces work together.

More as soon as the socket screws arrive.

Time to put some of it together while I wait for the rest of the M3+M4 to arrive.

Riveted the Motherboard Tray to the Rear Panel and Riveted the lip of the motherboard tray to the base of the frame, now its almost a solid piece.

Peeled off the protective tape of the mirrored 2mm. added all the button hex M3 hex bolts and screwed it into the frame.

Did the same to the front panel. Also riveted the 5.25 DVD bay to the front panel.

Riveted the HDD Caddy in place.

    Various Angles...

    @DonT-FeaR, ty and ty :)

@The boy 4rm oz, I was really impressed with how it turned out, safe to say I'll be getting more powdercoating done with future projects.

WOW, looks very very good. The red, black and white goes very well together, I can't wait for more assembly. I am looking at getting some powdercoating done for a future project also, do you know if it is possible to powdercoat plastic? From my understanding they use a lot of heat in the powdercoating progress so I am guessing it isn't possible.

Powdercoating is oven baked, so yeah might be a tad impossible to do, what you might want to look for is an airbrusher person, they might be able to do what you want, or DIY.
