As so often the case is, coupe = more cash, less car.

The hatch is the thinking man's choice

Indeed I have, around 1500 on it now. I had some tail-out antics on a deserted roundabout to celebrate too. That's the last of the tail-out antics I shall be doing for a good long while though, as afterwards I discovered replacing the rear tyres would set me back somewhere in the region of £450

I would only suggest that on the highway, as it's probably a manual ;)

I love a manual gearbox, but I can think of one situation where they're pretty sucky: stop-start heavy traffic.

I tried a 2009 Golf tuesday night and the clutch was extremely easy to push down ... the friction point was also so freaking high there is just no way to drive aggressively or just enjoy it... I have to admit however that if I were stuck in traffic, that would be much more comfortable than the sports clutch that is installed on my Accord.

Hehe, I got the joke Fisher... ;)

Tad, did you go for the 135i coupe?
I wanted it but not enough going 2nd hand (that weren't convertable) and that were cheap enough. :)
Sure Clarkson said in Top Gear recently that the 1 series coupe was the best car bmw made.

I intended on going for the 135i. Went in to the dealership, test drove, specced out and priced up.

Then something very strange happened and the dealer actually convinced me that a 123d was a better option, and ever so slightly cheaper to boot. Test drove that and fell in love with it. Then to seal the deal there was one sitting in the showroom with 32 miles on it with a spec sheet nearly identical to what I had just specced out on their computer (it had black leather instead of the red leather I wanted, unfortunately) for £5k off list - sold.

Never thought I would buy a diesel though!

Hehe, that's so funny, almost the reverse of what happened to me.
I went in looking for a 330d, which they had in stock.
Test drove it and several other diesels and thought they all sucked.
Well, not sucked, but I hated that there was absolutely no grunt down low before the turbo kicks in.
Test drove the 130i and fell in love - SOLD! :D
Would've liked a few more options but otherwise I love it. :)

She's off for her first service tomorrow, where a de-restriction will happen :D Legal or not, Being restricted to 30Mph (40 on a Good Hill :p) is awful as it completely kills the power, absolutely no acceleration on a hill, just isnt too much fun atm.
