That Akasa adapter looks great - a simple solution to a simple problem.

Hopefully cases will be released within the next year or so with mounts built in. Or at least an included adapter for a 3.5" bay.

TBH I thought it looked a bit more interesting than a small black lump of aluminium... :)

Thank you very much bit tech for the heads up on the Akasa SSD Mounting Kit, I have ordered one for my crucial m225 128Gb, even thou I am in a temp case at present I wont take short cuts, Ill distroy a perfectly good Asus p6t v2 for no reason but ill be sure to mount my ssd correctly.

can the akasa dual mount, mount to a 3.5 drive space with the bottom screws, as in my HDD cage, the 3.5drives are secured to a drive rail, via the bottom screws.

yup I like that Akasa SSD Mounting Kit me thinks that shall be what I use for my next build unless I get a case that has 2.5" mounting locations already.

Are we ever going to see 3 1/2 inch SSD drives?

I would definitely be going with that Akasa duel mount, very very handy, and cheap.

Would be nice to be able to fit into a "floppy bay" that many cases have but which never gets used.

We have one of those DuoDock devices in the office, although it's an older black one that's USB only. It's great. The only thing to watch is that you let the drives spin down properly before removing them.

I took one drive out of the dock a little too quickly and the platters were still whizzing around. It gave the drive a rather strange gyro-scope type feeling as I was holding it!

Hmm, SSD is an interesting technology, but from my point of view prices still have to drop a lot before I'll consider buying one.

And while I agree with the author that vibrations won't be a problem when mounting 2 SSD drives right on top of each other (Akasa Mounting Kit), temperature still might be something you'd have to consider.

    This.

But the Akasa seems a great alternative until more cases come out with ready made bays.
