Here's mine: Ladybug #Love Large version Named by the heart shaped dot on its back. This was shot with Canon 40D + Sigma 150mm macro, handheld natural lighting. Numbers: ISO 200, 150mm, f/4.0, 1/320, Tv Mode (Yes ISO400 would perhaps have been better so to gain smaller aperture but I don't want that tiny graininess ) C&C welcome.
What holiday? As far as photo in the past month, I'd have to say this street shot is rating pretty high with me; D700 85 1.8D f2.2 Iso 200 1/640th Spot metering
Ooh nice! I love that bokeh and the color rendition is beautiful. Of course great composition also And she looks very happy. Good shot! Summer "holiday" is rhetoric. Non holiday shots are of course just as welcome I was just curious too see what everyone else has had time to do the past month or so.
Took this at the Real Salt Lake Seattle Sounders game. Needs some touch up work, but can't be arsed right now Eos50D ISO 1250 f 5.6 1/1000 100mm Was running in full sport mode sitting about sixty feet from the edge of the field. I need to spring for better tickets next time.
Snowy Egret Snowy egret at Scarbourgh Marsh Nature Center, Maine. I have more pictures of the egret hunting fish and mirrored against the water in the late afternoon sun but this was the best out of the set.
Large Haven't really been out with the camera recently. Apart from the weather being crap, been spending a lot of time writing or visiting family. Anyhoo, tourists, come down from upcountry to eat pastys and ice cream on the beach. About a month too late for the sun though.
Lunch Break shot this yesterday. Nikon D700 Nikon 70-300VR 145mm f4.8 Iso 200 1/800th Also liking this one from yesterday; Commuter Candid Nikon D700 85mm 1.8D f2.2 Iso 200 1/800th
Greg, you seem to do a lot of (good) street photography. How to you set about doing it? I mean, do you approach people first before shooting them or just up and take the shot?
I never ask. Most people will avoid eye contact, as opposed to saying wtf you doing pointing that camera at me. It all depends on if I'm going for a candid shot (which I am doing most times) or a shot where the person looks at me. If I'm doing a candid shot I'll fiddle with the camera for a bit, wait for the shot I want, and just take a shot. If I want a shot of the person looking towards me, all I have to do is hold the camera to my eye till they notice me and look my way. It's all about how confident I'm feeling for the shot, and of who it's of. Someone people don't mind, and you can normally just smile at them, and show them the photo and thats that. I've only run into one person who didn't want me taking their photo, and I was making it obvious that I was taking their photo. Takes a little judgment too I guess. This shot was taken at the fish market, I set the camera to continous focusing, and squeezed off a few frames as he came towards me. He asked 'you found me to take a photo of?' or something along those lines, not in an aggressive tone, just a sort of 'heh' type remark. I said 'you bet', and showed the guy the shot. It's hard :/ I basically spammed my way through the summer holidays and am still sorting through the aftermath. Here's three I particularly liked so far
