Build Advice Laptop battery in a desktop computer

Hello all,

I was wondering if it is possible to put a laptop battery in a desktop computer, for the purposes of portability and power-cut protection. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible, but hugely difficult to do?

Forget it.
Even if there was a way to convert and distribute the power from a Laptop battery, down to 12v, 5v, 3.3v etc etc. The current draw from a PC would flatten a laptop battery in minutes.

If you want "portability", integrate a real UPS in the case.

You would want to buy a high quality UPS, even said you would only get around 20 minutes from one.

add your computer and a jerry can to a shopping trolley you dragged out of your local river/tributary/pond/lake/body of water and there you have a portable desktop computer!

 

Laptops.....pfft! Who needs 'em eh?
