Just picked up Freespace, Freespace 2, Descent 1 & 2 and Descent 3 all for $11.98 in that Promo.
    Can't complain about that. :)

I'm glad to see GOG still going and I support it whenever I can, but I really wish they'd stop adding so much forgettable crap to their catalogue (no-name arcade titles, chessmaster clones, pointless retro-casual games) and focus on sticking to their namesake of GOOD games, which I always took to mean 'classics'.

Regardless, there are some real gems in their catalogue too and usually at better prices than Steam offers (especially to us Europeans).
The way they conduct themselves is refreshing too, whoever handles their PR seems to do a pretty good job.

Good Old Games is awesome, and while Steam's convenience is nice, it's also great to get the bonuses they provide while also ensuring compatibility and total lack of DRM. If I ever have the choice in getting a game digitally, it's GOG all the way.

I was disappointed with my purchase of Descent 1 & 2 from them. The mouse was nowhere near sensitive enough, even with the setting maxed out. I don't know if that was the game fault or just the way DOS games handle either USB or IR mice.
Either way the game was unplayable.

I often wonder if PC gamers would prefer to buy graphically updated versions of old games rather than sequels which turn out to be let downs.

Bought a couple of games from them since launch, speedy downloads, no DRM = all good.

You want to get one of the source port engines, such as DXX Rebirth

Supports OpenGL, high resolutions and adds a bunch of features. A far better option than running through Dosbox as the GoG version does. I have not noticed any control issues using either mouse or joystick.

You just install the engine and copy the required files from the GoG Descent install to the engine folder. :thumb:

There is also D2 XXL. As I understand it, while Rebirth keeps the gameplay the same as the original, D2 XXL attempt to improve it.
