This is getting bizarre.

I'm not sure if I believe this story but it's on the internet so it's GOT to be true. I put the part in bold in honor of the original intent of this thread. I'm confused because I thought it was only mean insurance companies motivating people.

 

The subtle but distinct difference is that the MoveOn.org croud are openly sponsored by a non-profit civic action organisation which has clear political aims. The CPR sponsored guys are sponsored by organisations which pretend to be civic action groups but are actually professional lobbying organisations funded by commercial companies.

Why hide behind front organisations? If private health companies have a valid point to make, surely it doesn't matter if they are the ones seen to be making it? Or are they too bashful to put their commercial interests on public display?

 

The last sentence in the quote is a bit ambiguous, but if I understand correctly the 65-year-old anti-reform guy is the one who lost his pinky. If the whole thing is true, I'm curious to find out what kind of medical treatment he'll get for his lost digit. Perhaps he'll become pro-reform after the whole affair.

It's a non-issue because if it passes, he won't need the care because the move-on thugs won't be biting off any more fingers, at least not about health care. Problem solved.

 

it's the long term plans that have me against a government run insurance.. they say it's going to bring down prices of private, but what is really going to happen over the long term is it will replace it totally in both big and small employers

anyone in a rally on a weekday who isn't retired.. they got issues, I wouldn't care what they have to say- doesn't surprise me with the finger biting either

I voted on the war personally.. we needed to get out of iraq (my cousin was over there for quite awhile) and that puppet we had in office would have stayed forever- I kinda knew obamas domestic plans for the country was going to suck but it sure beats losing people in a war run by stupid people.. we need to vote some more elephants into the senate to gridlock that up and have some real debate before they spend all our money

Well 2 days ago my dad cut his finger down to the bone on a tin lid, don't ask how....anyway we went to a local minor emergency hospital 5 mins drive away, saw him straight away, applied a bandage and got sent to A&E with a letter, because he couldnt feel the tip of his finger and they don't do stitches.

Got to A&E at our local major hospital which was 10 mins away, I dropped him off while he handed the letter in and I parked the car, as soon as I got in no more than 5 mins after I dropped him off, I sat down and he got called straight in to see a doctor, 30 mins later they had someone from the orthopedic department down to see him who reconnected the nerve, glued the wound up and was out after less than 45 minutes there.

And people say you wait ages, never mind the treatment hes had for his two heart attacks at the specialist CCU at the same hospital, and the 8 angina attacks, forgot to mention, it was all free.

 

Certainly isn't happening in Europe, and there we have government-run insurance. What it does do is set an affordable baseline of health insurance (and thus health care) for everybody. Those who want private rooms, Sky TV and Swedish masseuses can opt for private health care/insurance.

Yeah, we also get good doctors, mostly, in both private and the NHS. In fact, they tend to be the same people.
